Wow! These are stellar! Love the use of the speaker as and radar dish! Also the snap for the valve handle is pure genius! What are the rivets on the redbull tank?

^ That may have sounded a little like a rant. It was not meant to be. It was also not meant to squash or belittle anyone's ideas. If that was the way it was taken, I do apologize. I just think we want to be carful assigning a value to stuff. Anyway, just my 2 cents.
On a happier note: over coffee this morning I made 200 DMG style closed books. Is anyone looking to fill up a library? I will be making more tonight. Im thinking of doing maybe doing a couple of sets of 300 books each if anyone is interested....

Concerning a Marketplace: I must confess it is an interesting idea... but I do feel like assigning any subjective worth (or any kind of worth) to projects immediately builds walls between crafters, basically nullifying the foundation of this community "anyone can craft cheap stuff for their game." Placing a "worth" on crafts brings skill level, time involved, and available materials into an impossible equation. Someone builds gorgeous looking giants in 5 hours. I spend 50 hours making one that looks like garbage. Who's is worth more? This should be a place where every single member has the same share. Skill level shouldn't matter. Time spent shouldn't matter..... That being said, if someone has some specialties that they would like to offer... we could add that to the name on page one. Please don't get me wrong. It is an interesting idea. However, before we jump off another bridge, we should see how landing from the first one goes...

Also the 'gifting' or even trading talents is exciting to me...I'd love to trade/gift miniatures/materials for a painted mini or terrain piece...man I'm just excited over the whole idea. YES!!!! You're all just so nice! curufin I really didn't want to come across rude or something. If it really is okay with everyone that it might take me quite some time to put together a parcel you can put my name on the list. I just have to deal with feeling a bit weird for a moment ;-) I possibly could even give out a shipping adress in Germany, because depending from where someone sends something it might be cheaper than Switzerland. I didn't think that at all. It was my fault. Let me know when you are ready, and I'll add your name. you can never have enough orcs, but especially skeletons would be cool because you can take them apart and use the bones and skulls in crafting projects as well. i just bought some GW stuff for that purpose myself. Unfortunately, the skeletons are armored and carrying weapons. You cant really take them apart ...or I would have done that years ago... Seeing all the ideas and outcomes of everyone's creations is inspiring and that in a way is a "PACKAGED Gift" of its own. I cannot wait to see what this THREAD has in store for us of all our collective bounties and creations galore I couldn't agree more. noctuary has used a couple pieces I sent him in his Wasteland builds. I have to say, it is a real thrill to see how the things will be used. That, in it of itself, is a gift. About what could be traded shared, here's some more examples - spare miniatures: I have hundreds of minis, literally. Some I bought cheaply in bulk, others have seen their use and won't probably be used on my gaming table for years. I put a few in each package, hoping that others find more use for them than me - cheap LEDs: especially around xmas, but around the year you can find cheap battery-driven LED chains in the home improvement parts of stores like dollarstore or micheals (or whatever those cheapo-shops are called). - some stuff you crafted yourself: I normally do not only craft one or two of something, but a dozen. for practice and because making twice as much does usually take only a little bit longer (economies of scale). so I usually have some stuff left over to share, which gives people - especially newbies - something to inspire I have been thinking about this too. I would like to add some things that I think are as good as craft materials but could cost far less to ship. But first I want to talk about the sheer volume talent that this community has. The resources available are quite staggering when you actually think about it. I would like to paint a few scenarios (being very cavalier). There is at least one member here that is a writer. A WRITER! Maybe your players just saved the day and the town mayor is going to give a speech on their behalf. You decide that the mayor will have some sinister nature that you want to hint at during the speech but don't want it to be blatantly obvious. Just write up the gist of it and send it off to a writer who can "craft" the proper wording. BAM, super sinister mayor with an elegant speech that is sure to captivate your player. I would trade crafting materials for a custom retooling of a speech I need. Also, easily done though email...free! We have sculptors. Need I say more? Okay, maybe trade something for a custom sculpt....or maybe trade for a sculpting tutorial video. I cant sculpt to save my life. But I wish I could. If I could sculpt even some basic humanoids, I could do some serious damage. I would gladly trade stuff for a basic step-by-step sculpting tutorial. "This is how you unwrap your Sculpey package..." Map makers? I think so. Need an old looking map? Look no farther. Members that can draw. Yes, we have dozens. Need a custom picture? Maybe a local or NPC. Once again, with an email attachment...it's free! I think you get what I am saying... you don't have to dig deep to find all the special talents that members here posses. Custom Photoshopped character sheets? No Problem. Weird plant pods? Sure thing. Wood grain carved craft sticks? How many do you need? ....We have one of the best collection of talents out there... we just need a little nudge to elevate all of our games to the next level.... and beyond.

Absolutely gorgeous!
Coffee is definitely my go-to for aging paper. Tea works well too, for a more subtle feel.
Since I cant draw, I usually just print stuff out in black ink, then soak in coffee, then bake.

So I received a package full of cool bits that seem to be cast in plastic (resin?). I'm pretty sure I know who it came from, but the real name is on the return label, not the forum username. Perhaps we should make sure to include our username on or in packages to avoid confusion? Also, if any of you would want to talk about the craft outside of the forum. I'm on facebook Lee Eddings, my profile pic is a wolf head silhouette My guess would be, it was from @shinobi. He rolled your name (way back in page 2 of this thread).

Somebody is getting ambitious! I like it. I said it before and I'll say it again: I don't think anyone should be excluded from receiving a crafting parcel. Period. Would it be great if a person that received a gift, could send one in return? Yes. Is a person obligated to do so? Absolutely not. I understand that feels weird. But there is no time limit on this kind of thing. Maybe you cant send something now, but maybe you could in six months. No big deal. I think everyone should have the opportunity to get some neat things. Especially if they don't have much. I want to send stuff to share ideas and inspiration. Plus it makes me feel good. And then there is that whole world peace thing. Im sorry I was cavalier with your name, Alexis. I knew tauster was looking for folks in Europe to keep shipping cost down. ...and crafting materials aren't the only thing to send... I might put together some sets that any game could use... maybe doors and tables.... or traps.... or trees...or shelves with books....I also have some old army builder molds, orcs and skeletons. I could cast up some minis to send as well...

Hell yes they are close enough to the models! They look great! Far cheaper and you get the satisfaction of doing it yourself. Win win.

Hey curufin you don't really need to add me to the list yet. I don't feel comfortable receiving something as long as I have nothing to give to someone else! I'll just tell you when I am ready! Sorry about that.

Water filer?!?! Of course! I can't believe I have never looked at it like that before. Brilliant. Old weed whacker line...genius! Great looking build. Cant wait to see it painted up. If I were an AT-AT driver, I'd take that thing out first!
(Also....some of those bits look strangely familiar)

I saw this several months ago and forgot to post it here. These are D&D Achievements (not unlike achievements from video games) and they are hilarious. It got me thinking that it could be a great idea to introduce into a game... especially if the players are unaware that you are doing it. The only thing that I would have like better, was if they were geared a little more toward 3.x/pathfinder. So I set off to make some of my own. I came up with 80 and I assigned a very small amount of xp for getting each achievement. Here are the ones that I created in PDF. Also pictured below:

That was easy...using the profiles, many members had their general location listed. I just plugged them in. Page 1 nearly complete.

I've got three more packages packed! I'd prefer to send out two of them to someone inside Germany or at least the EU, to save shipping costs (shipping one parcel to overseas is more expensive than all the three packages together). Anyone nearby? A general thought: It might be good if all the people on the list on page 1 would let curufin add their country. This information would be public then, but stating my home country isn's really something that hurts my privacy. Jm2C... A very good idea. I think I remember chiefsgtbradley stating he was in Germany. He would have to confirm that... Shipping is expensive. Just for a little reference: I (living in Michigan, USA) sent out a parcel to tauster living in Germany. The Parcel weighed exactly 2 pounds (907g) including the box. All the dimensions of the box were under 12" (30.5cm). I was able to mail it out First-Class International, using the post office. The total cost was $21USD. I printed the labels at home which saved $3. $21 seemed reasonable since UPS wanted $96 and FEDEX wanted $143 for the same parcel. I would shop around. Just food for thought...

I use peel-n-stick, vinyl floor tiles ($0.39-$0.69 per 12"-square tile), for bases. I glue two tiles to each other using their own glue. I then measure, and cut to sizes needed. I Hot Glue the figures to the bases, then I paint the bases with PVA Glue, dip in colored sand mixtures, let dry, then paint with watered-PVA Glue, to seal it. Cheers! That is a great idea! Any problems with the dried hot glue pealing off of the vinyl?

Sir Gneld, Nooooooooooo! Really stellar work, tauster! It's awesome seeing all the little pieces on one playing surface. This is how I imagine Zuggtmoy's back yard looks. Love the araumycos and all of the other fungi growing from it! Great job!

Scotty has a video too here. He may have another one... because I could have sworn he used a hot glue gun to make texture on mini bases...
