Thanks! I really appreciate all the encouragement. Michka, one of the things I love about sculpting is now I can make all the things that I wished the miniature companies would have made. The practice dummies is something you see in movies quite often (Robin Hood: Prince of thieves [archery] and Game of Thrones S01E01 [melee]). It just makes sense to me. Plus, I appear to be making a bizarre or market with all the goods and items I'm making...so when I make the bower stand and the sword merchant's stand I can use the dummies (try it before you buy it sort of thing). Of course, for the market I will need a vendor. I feel like he is a portly fellow in his late 40's, hose, boots, tunic, belt, a fur trimmed cloak....and he will need a hat. Not sure what kind of hat....but possibly one with a feather.... I started watching Tom Mason's tutorials on sculpting a mini.... so I'm jumping off the bridge and the merchant is first! The armature. Layer of green stuff skin. This was MUCH harder to do than the tutorial would have you believe. Layer of super sculpey firm skin. I will be (re)defining muscle groups next.

While work has been kicking my but for the last two weeks, I have not been completely idle. I redid some books (this time is a much more acceptable scale) with some book ends, a couple pair of boots, a skull cap, a wizard's staff, a bear skin rug, a bolt of cloth, two coils of rope (one with a noose), two different styles of brooms, and two straw filled practice dummies (one for melee and one for archery). I'm still struggling with the green stuff, but I am also still enjoying it. If I could get the DeLorean up to 88mph, I'd go tell my 10 year old self to start sculpting. That way I might have the hang of it now...

I think the easiest way to accomplish the 3d mountain that can be delved would be to build a series of plateaus that can be stacked to form the mountain. You could lay down regular tiles or Next walls on the plateaus as the PCs explore.
For the construction, you could use cardboard strips. Although, you may want to try chicken wire (wire mesh). It will allow you to make complex rock formations. You could cover it with glue soaked paper towels, or a cheap cotton fabric (old t-shirts would work) soaked in glue.

I have tried a couple times to upload my picks of stuff and so has my wife. She thinks their is a problem with our tower for the computer . When I can get this fixed I will be posting my stuff for sure . Have 5 to 6 packages going out sometime Wednesday. I wonder if you could email the picture to another member for them to post here. I should have taken a picture before I sent it , but I would be happy to post it for you. Fellow Traders, I would like you help me check my math. Does the list on page one look correct? Has every asterisk gotten a package? I feel like I might of missed a someone or worse yet, put an asterisk where it didn't belong. Thanks for the help!

That is quite an amazing build you have there. Love all the wood (walkways, posts, shingles), the candles are great, and you have just put a ton of little details in there. I also like the mushroom coming up through the walkway, then I realized it has a door in it. Wow. Lots and lots of stuff to look at. Excellent job.

Awesome job! You put tons and tons of detail in there. I can see a wooden spool cut in half, but could you tell us what some of the other detail items are? Stellar job!

Great looking stuff. I was try thinking of other sources for Asian themed minis. I remembered that Mattel had a very short lived toy line called GUTS! in the mid 80's, and one of the series was Ninja warriors. Here they are: After looking up some statistics, it says they were between 2.5" and 3" tall. That is probably a bit tall for the 28-30mm scale (unless you have giant types in your game). Of course they could always be used for statues. Anyway, just thinking out loud. There are some on ebay right now Ninja Guts!

The same here. I've been looking for some days now to find an equivalent in everyday life household item. It's a very simple texture, so it just must be out there somewhere. And if push comes to shove, I'll be making one myself. Just some swings with a triangular file might do the trick... ... mission accomplished! Costs: about 1 Euro. Production time: 2 hrs, give or take. The finished tool: The result: (advanced prototypes, prior to optimizing) You sir, have done it again! Pure genius! I just knew there was a way. I looked over the plastic forks I have, but they aren't stackable. I will keep I eyes peeled. Not only did you come up with a great solution, but you sparked a different way of thinking. I have a ton of thin plastic, and I have a table saw. I think I could rip some strips, stack them up, give them a little lean and then glue them together. Karma up!

Yes, they are one of my favorites. They are a fantasy inspired German metal band. They have a whole album dedicated to the Silmarillion, titled "Nightfall on Middle Earth", which is most excellent. If your are a Dragon Lance fan, try the song "The Soul Forged", or for the softer side, try the song "The Lord of the Rings".
Really I'm just glad you are on board.
