Zombietastic! Great crafting! You really succeeded in keeping the whole fallout feel in every piece you crafted!

Thanks man! I'm trying to. I'll be trying a vault next and when I get some coffee stir sticks I'll be making some torn apart wooden houses.

I have some of that cardboard that has the corrugation on the outside. I think I'll have to make some of these.

vestrivan I'll be using that Japanese styled house method for the vault. DungeonMasterRandom you can use any cardboard pieces. Just carefully peel back one layer then hit it with some scotch brite carefully to remove the excess paper and hairs. And please share if you do try any. The great thing is that you don't have to be perfect. Any screw ups can just end up being extra detail.

I've experimented with it before and never got the results I wanted. Always too messy. Maybe that tape idea will clean it up? Will see what I can do and if it works out I'll post it.

So I start by cutting all 8 parts of the top and bottom tabs off a box. Then slowly peel back one layer while holding down the corrugated inside to the other side just to get it started. When I pull it back about an inch, I lay it on a table then apply a good amount of pressure to the corrugated side and slowly peel the top layer back. You will hear a snap/popping sound. This will reduce the amount of excess paper being left. If it starts leaving a large amount of unwanted paper on the corrugations then go to the other side and start again. After I have my top layer peeled on all of my pieces I lay down some news paper then go to town with my sandpaper/scotch brite. When I finish I just toss the news paper.

By the time you had posted this I had already developed this exact technique Working on the shanty right now. Going for a Fallout look.

I will actually be using corrugated cardboard for some tiled Asian rooftops. I have a distant, but upcoming, D&D campaign that I am going to run that will be Oriental-themed. And one of the things that I have planned is a rooftop chase!
I am going to cut the revealed cardboard into strips and then stagger them in layers, to create the peaks of the roofs. So, you posting the technique for removing the outside layer is fantastically helpful. Thanks!

Glad I could help brother. Once you get the hang of it you can almost peel them perfectly with just some light sanding to remove the hairs.

Everything looks awesome! I love the water towers, and all of the little details you have added. It really takes the whole thing to another level. I think it's going to look amazing when it is all set up. Karma for you!

Good deal! Keep me posted. You said to keep you posted, so I am. The black spray paint base on the two shanties I made is drying. Should be done drying soon. I made them a little larger then I wanted, so I'm classifying them as 'Large Shanties.' I'm contemplating whether to paint them up or just show you the matte black versions. My painting skills aren't very good so I'm afraid I'll mess them up.

DungeonMasterRandom just keep it simple like how this guy did and they will come out great. I'll be following his color schemes for the most part.

I am going to do a steel color for the frame and the metal sheets are going to to be greens, blues, yellows, etc, like shipping containers.

Great stuff. I mostly play D&D but I love Zombicide too. I've been considering adding some 3D buildings to my game. You gave me quite a few ideas. I especially liked the multiple layers.

Water filer?!?! Of course! I can't believe I have never looked at it like that before. Brilliant. Old weed whacker line...genius! Great looking build. Cant wait to see it painted up. If I were an AT-AT driver, I'd take that thing out first!
(Also....some of those bits look strangely familiar)

Somehow I missed this when it was originally posted. I am sorry you had to wait three weeks for a thoroughly well-deserved "exalt" noctuary.
