All of the figures are quite well done. I would say they are at a professional level, and most assuredly far beyond my GEtGW (Good Enough to Game With) level of painting (block painting, with The Dip/Magic Wash...). The C3PO figure is quite well done, with the shading/worn effect on his gold exterior. The eyes actually look about right to me, for the scale of the figure, as they are not crystal clear on the prop's face, in the movies of old. Cheers!

One thing you could make with very little effort are remotes such as the one Luke trains with on the Millenium Falcon or Bao-Dur's droid friend/pet.
Find some of the pins with a ball on the end, clip the tip with a wire cutter, put some super glue on the pin where the wire enters the ball, take a pair of washers, one smaller than the other with the larger one being your base size, glue them together and use some hot glue in the middle of it to make a small mound and put the end of the pin in while its wet, perhaps using some small pebbles around it to stabilize it.
Black bomb it, and paint the ball as you want the remote to look (there's a few types of similar droids in various parts of the old EU) and base it how you like.
I've got a pile of them packed away at the moment with the WotC SW minis that I'll bring out again when I have another star wars game to run.

Thank you Adamsouza. I'm painting some more figures right now but I do have some rough, rough ideas for terrain in the back of my head. I've already made some tiles that I'm not happy with, so progress is happening.
Thank you sgtslag. I haven't fixed C-3P0's eyes yet, so obviously they aren't a priority.
Thank you voodoo. Should have something to show soon. I've been distracted by the holidays, but more is coming.
Sotf, that's a magnificent idea. Remotes are going on the list. Thank you.

The first remote I created simply because I needed one when I ran an adaptation of Smugglers of Naboo (The semi-D20 Star Wars promo adventure that was released the same time as the first D20 edition came out but had a semi-D6 mechanic since it was intended for people were considering the game and was for things out of other gaming boxes). If you want to run a game, that adventure is worth looking at and adapting as it works just about on any planet at any point in Star Wars...potentially in a ton of other settings with a few background changes since it's about handling a bunch of people smuggling animals...

i have seen some people posting the pill bottles used as specimen containers , but the problem with that is the color for the pill bottle container makes lem far less attractive looking , and far more obvious as a pill bottle , thus shattering the illusion . check these out if you are thinking about specimen containers/cryogenics . they would be easy to jerry rig with LEDs www.amazon.com/Wilton-303-801-Fillable-Pillar-4-Inch/dp/B00B5WGMC2

Something else you might be interested in is that the new Revell kit for the Force Awakens X-Wing includes a BB-8 that's to scale...probably would require a base added, but it's a 2 piece mini.

It's time for another update. This time I have even more imperial Assault miniatures, as well as a couple WOTC metal figures. I'll start with the Royal Guard Champion from Imperial Assault. It's a simple paint job, but sometimes you need to stick to the basics and not over complicate the look. A basic block paint of dark gray and red. A GW Nuln Oil wash over the whole thing. Pick out some details with dry-brushing and some thinned layers and it's done. I think it keeps the comic book look, which is where this character comes from. Next up, a pair of WOTC metal figures from their old RPG character lines. These are a Rodian Scoundrel and a Wookie Scout. These two are painted as Greedski and Hutchiwalla. They're undercover detectives working the mean streets of Coruscant. These guys are based on one of my favorite 70's cop shows. And finally, my favorite character from Star Wars, R2-D2 from Imperial Assault. Pictured with his buddy C-3PO. Artoo looks a little big when compared with C-3PO. I'm not sure if he's too big or C-3PO is too small. Here's a shot with a Stormtrooper for comparison. What do you guys think? Let me know what you think. And as always, there's more to come.

Nice looking minis you have there. I think r2 may be slightly larger than average but still looks fine.

For threepio, you might want to dull down his silver leg, it looks a bit brighter than it ought.

Thank you bananapanda and sotf. R2 does seem big, but I'm happy enough with him. Actually I'm happy with them both. Update time. I'll start off with some W.I.P. shots of an Action Fleet Landspeeder I'm cleaning up. Nothing special. Just filling in gaps with green stuff and plasticard. The black paint is from an earlier conversion job I did. I thought a black speeder would look cool. Turns out, not so much. The other thing I have to show off is my Bandai 1/48th Snowspeeder. This is from the same line as the 1/48th AT-ST I showed earlier in the thread. Much like the AT-ST, this model is a delight to put together. I went for a heavily weathering, but this time I stuck with a streaking lines look instead of the sponge applied paint chipping. Here's the obligatory shot with an Imperial Assault Stormtrooper. I think the scales match perfectly. That's it for now. As always, there's more to come.

Hey Michka !! Stupendous painting bud, really like the storm troopers you did. The royal guard champion looks great too.
I do think however that the T-47 is screaming for some sort of battle damage to it tho (she look'ith too pretty'ith) blaster burns, scratches, or mayhaps you just don't want to put that much work in it. A little charcoal on a paintbrush can go along way.
Unless of course, its brand new off the showroom floor

Thank You DnDPaladin and Draklith. The Snowspeeder is definitely NOT a new vehicle. With that much weatering it's been out for a while. It could use a little more dirt though. I'll probably do that with paint though. Update time. I finished painting the Green Stuff repaired Landspeeder. I masked up the windscreen with masking tape and re-primed the speeder in Testors Light Earth. (That's one of my four go-to primers. The others being Black, White and Light Sea Grey) Then I went over it with a series of streaky coats of Orange, then a Safety Yellow, then a light Yellow. (These aren't the actual Reaper colors I used. My paints are upstairs and I'm feeling lazy.) I painted the red accents free hand. Then I sponged on some dark grey and steel, along with some of the yellows to brake up the pin stripes. Covered most of it with GW Seraphim Sepia along with some GW Nuln Oil in the panel lines and grill. Painted on some Silver at the edges for a chipping effect too. And here's a shot of the new speeder next to the one I painted earlier, and an Imperial Assault Stormtrooper. Scale looks good to me. There will be some more Imperial Assault miniatures coming soon. Just as soon as Photobucket decides to cooperate. Let me know what you think.

Here are the Imperial Assault miniatures I was talking about. I haven't cropped the shots this time. Seems Photobucket doesn't want me to do that with these pictures. I'll start off with the Wookie Warriors. Just some dabs of different browns for the fur. Cover in a GW sepia wash and most of the work is done. Next up is Biv Bodhrik, Vengeful Guerrilla. This is a character from the Twin Suns box set. I toned down the colors on this guy. I'm not sure why but I just wasn't feeling inspired by this figure. It might be the asymmetrical design or the clumsy looking armor on the arm, but I just couldn't find a look that worked here. One things for sure. It needs another shot of Dull Coat. More to come.

Update time. (If Photobucket lets me.) I'll start with a repaint of the Snowspeeder. Actually it's more of a touch-up. A number of people have given me ideas about how to fix the painting on the Snowspeeder. Unfortunately none of them agreed what was wrong. So I decided to fix the one thing that was bugging me about the paint job: the red stripes. The streaks of white weathering on the stripes was washing them out too much, which gave the model a dingy look. I wanted the thing to have that Star Wars used universe look, but at a certain point you have to put some colors that pop or it all looks dull. I also darkened the engine grill and harpoon gun on the back and painted in the steps on the side of the speeder. Finally , while I was breaking up the red stripes with a sponge effect I went back and sponged some off-white in places to lighten the whites. Overall I think it brings it closer to the original look, even if it isn't an exact match to the filming model. And here is a repainted Action Fleet Dewback. I still need to cut up a WOTC Stormtrooper and make a rider for this guy. If I do repaint anymore of these I'll cut the rains down (I'm sure that's not how it's spelled.) and replace them with green stuff. Finally a little what-the-hell project work in progress. I didn't want to paint anything last night, but I wanted to do something. That's when I found a vending machine toy in my coat pocket. I've been buying these things for some time in hopes of using the bubble halves. I've already used a couple as domes for my Tatooine buildings. Last night I got the idea of making a window for a spaceship cockpit. I started cutting out strips of plasticard and gluing them on the outside surface. After getting the first stripes on I just added small angled bits to the stripes and edges to give the thing some details. I'm really happy with how it turned out, but now I can't decide whether it should be a cockpit window or the face of a mad computer. I made one more discovery this morning while taking these shots. The Testors spray can caps fit perfectly into the lip of the clear half of the vending machine bubbles. Now I won't have to figure out how to make the body of the tube that the window goes on. And Photobucket let me post photos eventually. Not a bad morning More to come.
