There are a number of projects that I work on pretty much constantly. One of those is Star Wars. I've been collecting Star Wars minis since West End Games was making them out of lead. Not pewter, lead. I have a ridiculous number of WEG miniatures, all painted and usable whenever I want. The problem is they don't match anything made today. They are proper 25mm miniatures. Now Wizards of the Coast made a huge number of bendy plastic Star Wars figures, and I have a bunch of those too. The problem there is, I hate those paint jobs, and I hate re-painting bendy plastic. What can I say. I'm a snob when it comes to Star Wars. Recently, Fantasy Flight Games put out their miniatures game, Imperial Assault. The figures are plastic, but they come unpainted and the plastic is rigid enough to spray. There are a number of other problems I have with the figures (Could someone please make more then one pose of Stormtrooper?) but I just had to have them. I started painting the figures recently, so I thought I'd post them here. Just one photo to start with. I finished all nine Stormtroopers. I will be replacing the bases, which is why they haven't been painted yet. I'll be posting more photos when I get more of the set painted. Oh, and the small grey box in the from is a Reaper Bones Starship Generator. It's the Reaper Bones figures I've finished. I will also be making 2.5D Star Wars terrain, as well as more generic sci-fi locales that I can use for Star Wars, Star Trek, Aliens, and many other games. Let me know what you think.

They look great! I always have trouble getting detail out of my W.E.G. troopers. It seems like no matter what I do they turn out grey, or pure white. These look to be a whole lot better detail, or maybe because of that awesome paint job.

Thank you everyone. chiefsgtbradley, After working on Pathfinder for so long, I've been dying to do some science fiction work. My biggest problem is lack of focus. That's why I have both a Star Trek and Star Wars thread started at the same time. I decided to put other sci- fi terrain here so I wouldn't start a bunch of threads of half done projects.
Shionogi, I love the WEG stormtroopers. Painting them, on the other hand , is a giant pain in the backside. I've painted up something like 60 of the things in the past. They are somewhat light on details compared with modern figures, but the classic figure poses win me over every time. I hate overly dramatic posing. One of the things I like about these FFG minis is the more natural look to most of them.
Draklith, Yeah, those bases were never going to stay. I will use the same bases I use for all my science fiction and modern figures. Maybe I'll do a couple of them tonight or over the weekend, and I will definitely post pictures.

Say...
Aren't they a little short to be stormtroopers?

Update: Here are the Stormtroopers with the new bases. I cut the old bases off and pinned these guys to slotta-bases that match the rest of my sci-fi and modern figures. And here are a few rogue types. These are old Wizards of the Coast metal Star Wars figures. It's hard to believe WOTC did metal minis at one time. I really wish they'd made more of them. And here's a shot of the troopers beside the WOTC metals. See how well the scales match. More to come.

I sit here staring at the metal and plastic figures and you did such a great job in painting all of them that you cannot tell the metal from the plastic ones in the pic with men and stormtroopers. Fantastic sir as usual. cannot wait to see the rest. I am inspired to do mine.

You really did a SPLENDID job on the Star Wars Guys & Gal...the Rogues are especially nice. Your brushwork is OUTSTANDING & your color selection manages to be subdued without being drab/boring. VERY WELL DONE!

Fantastic job on the painting! Those are probably the best Stormtrooper paint jobs I have ever seen. I agree that WotC should have done more in the metal mini lines... The few that they did really didn't give players of GMs many options.

Thank you guys. I was really happy when I got these re-based. dragon722, The Fantasy Flight Imperial Assault miniatures are really nice sculpts. If this is the quality I can expect from the rest of their miniatures I'll be looking at a few more of their boardgames. DeafNala, I have to admit the metal figures were painted a while ago. I used to take a lot longer painting characters then I do lately. On the other hand, These figures paint up so nicely that you feel like taking your time. Draklith, Wow! Now that's a compliment. I've never used an airbrush and I probably never will. It just seems like too much effort for a mini. curufin, I have to admit, I'm using a technique that I learned on YouTube. There's a series on painting all the figures from the Imperial Assault box set by Sorastro's Painting. Here's a link if I did this right. www.youtube.com/channel/UCu5Pmz1wY-NWCYy21vikKAg His videos are well worth watching.

Thank you Alexis. I was seven when Star Wars first opened. It changed my life, and I'm not exaggerating. And here is another update. I'm still working my way through the Imperial Assault box, so I haven't started building terrain yet. First up, Imperial Guard... Probe Droids Originally the Probe Droids came attached to the bases by the three thin legs that dangle the lowest. Since I had to put them on my own bases I decided to make flight bases. I'm happy with the floating effect. Lastly, I have another metal WOTC character figure: the Cerean Jedi. and just to show the scale once more, a group shot of the Cerean Jedi vs a Stormtrooper and a Probe Droid. Let me know what you think.

Could someone please make more then one pose of Stormtrooper? Don't worry dude, this game is so immensely popular that i expect to see expansions bring every imaginable variation of stormtrooper possible.

Don't worry dude, this game is so immensely popular that i expect to see expansions bring every imaginable variation of stormtrooper possible. I've seen an expansion coming out with three more Stormtroopers and they will have a different pose. There's also a Commander coming out and the first boxed expansion will have a Stormtrooper with a heavy weapon. There's plenty of room for expansions. I just hope all the main characters come out before players get burned out. Then again some fools will buy any damn thing they make. (I'm of course talking about myself.)

i don't think they will burn out dude, the game is mostly a rethemed version of descent 2.0. and descent has been extremely popular for almost 10 years now and has like 40 expansions and i think they are not done with that one yet.
and imperial assault is even more popular then descent.

Time for an update. Let's see if I can post this before my crappy internet connection gives out. We start with some more Imperial Assault miniatures. This is the E-Web Heavy Repeating Blasters, manned by Imperial Engineers. They look like scout troopers to me, but that's what they're called in Imperial Assault. Next we have three Imperial Officers and finally, the metal WOTC figure for a Male Human Fringer. I painted these WOTC metal figures a couple years ago. Seems I liked to paint white streaks in guys hair that year. As always, let me know what you think.

It's update time. I'll start off with my first hero mini from the Imperial Assault box set, the veteran known as Fenn Signis. I've been going through my older Star Wars projects lately, and decided some of this stuff could use a better paint job. To start out with, I re-painted my Rancor. This is an old Star Wars Action Fleet toy. I used modeller's putty to seal the joints, seams, and a few screw holes. I also glued the mouth in place. The toy originally came with a mouth that opened fully, so you could put the small human figures that came with every Action Fleet toy into the beast. I just knew this feature had to go, or I'd get to see my players shoving my carefully painted miniatures into the rancor's mouth for laughs. There are better renditions of this creature, but he is nice and intimidating at this size. Here's a shot of poor Fenn having a really bad day. and finally I started working on some scatter terrain for this project. To start out I made crates out of soda bottle caps. Just glue two caps together and paint. The added bits of dirt on the sides is a GW technical paint called Stirland Mud. You could probably do something similar by mixing white glue with non-coarse sand and paint. The numbers on the tops are vague on purpose, so if players want to check the crates I can mark down which crate contains what in my game notes ahead of time. It's a trick I picked up from skirmish games like .45 Adventure and Pulp Alley. I think maybe the crates are too big as they are right now. Might see if some smaller bottle caps would look better, or these might be find when used with an outdoors setting. And that's all I have for now. Let me know what you think.
