dragon722, Sculpey gets that a lot. curufin, before I learned the joy of cardboard and hot glue, I was a dedicated plasticard man. It's good to know my skills haven't disappeared. Thank you stroezie. I'm hoping to get a tile actually finished someday soon. I keep changing the design, which means I have to start all over again. grandinquisitorkris, still haven't found the time to watch those videos yet. Reasons below. Quick update. This is an experiment, trying out new methods of sculpting on a wire armature. This is supposed to be a Givin, an obscure alien from the Star Wars universe. I'm pretty sure Fantasy Flight won't be making any of these guys anytime soon. The sculpt is based on the Tom Mason method of wrapping a thin layer of Green Stuff around a wire armature. Then before the green Stuff cures you add layers of polymer clay over the Green Stuff. This gives the clay something to stick to. Tom mason uses Fimo, but I wanted to see if regular Super Sculpey would work. I know curufin uses Super Sculpey Firm for the method. I wanted to know if my favorite material would do the job. Turns out it works just fine. There are still details to add, such as a Jacket of Vest, and a Blaster or Hyrdo-Spanner, (and hands). It'll probably be the Hydro-Spanner. I really need more Science Fiction civilians for my tables. Let me know what you think.

Thank you curufin. That means a lot. Update time. I finished the Givin sculpt and started another one. Actually, the guy on the left had it's armature skinned in Green Stuff for a week now. I just wanted to see what happened when I tried to add Super Sculpey to already cured Green Stuff. The result, Super Sculpey do NOT want to stick to anything other then fresh Green Stuff and itself. Lesson learned. I added another layer of GS to the armature and quickly added the Super Sculpey. After that I continued adding the clay and forming it till I got here. I still need to add a weapon to his raised hand, and some appendages to his head. I'm not saying what he is yet. Maybe it'll be a surprise. I plan to prime and paint the Givin over the weekend. He's not a great sculpt, (who knew Givin's had such large hands) but I learned a lot while making him. In that way, it's a success. More to come.

Update time. I didn't get the chance to sculpt at all this week. Instead I really needed to get some figures painted. I only have two for the moment, but there are more in the pipeline. For now I have the Givin and the power droid. Both of these were simple paint jobs. The power droid is a re-paint of a WOTC bendy plastic figure, and you know were the Givin comes from. There are more painted Imperial Assault miniatures coming soon. Let me know what you think.

Another update. This time I have three figures from Imperial Assault. First up, the Rebel Saboteurs. Not the worst figure, but did we really need two of these? Not my best paint job either, but I did paint the Rebellion Firebrid symbol on the shoulder, just like the art shows. I mean, why wouldn't you want to advertise that you're part of the rebellion when your job is to sneak into places so you can plant explosives and break stuff? Here is the Brilliant Engineer figure from the Twin Shadows expansion, Saska Teft. I really like this figure. It's a pretty straight forward sculpt that looks good with a quick paint job. Now back to the putty mines. I have figures to make.

Yet another update. This time I have the finished sculpt of the second humanoid. I present Jaxxon the Lepi. The pistol isn't great, but it'll do for now. I can always replace it later. The ears were a lot harder to make then I expected. There's a loop of thin wire inside each ear, pinned into the head. Getting the putty to go on smooth was a gigantic pain. And for some reason drilling two holes into the miniature's head was weird. I think it was the spirals of green stuff that came out of the hole that did it. Let me know what you think.

Ha! Sweet! I was way off...but I see it now! It's awesome. I still have all of my 80's Star Wars comics, I bet there is a treasure trove of ideas in there. Great work as always!

Thank you everyone. I really do love the Marvel Star Wars comics. The early stuff can be silly, but once you get into the post Empire Strikes Back issues it really gets good. The Tarkin story is one of my favorite Star Wars stories in any medium. Still haven't had time to paint the green rabbit yet. I just got a Playstation 4 with Destiny, and for some reason I haven't been in the mood to paint minis. I have been sculpting however. (Still haven't seen the videos. I'm a bad Michka.) Quick update.I have been sculpting. This is an experiment to see if I can make a more realistic human figure. The idea is to sculpt him without an alien head or bulky clothing to hide mistakes. He isn't perfect, but I think he's an improvement. This is also my first time working with mixed Fimo over Green Stuff, just like Tom Mason shows in his videos. It's not as easy to work with as the Super Sculpey, but the finished surface is really nice. I'm happy with the figure, but that means I'm too close to it to see what the problems are. Let me know what you think. I'm really interested in hearing your honest opinions.

One thing you might want to consider doing is making a few dollies as well if you're continuing to sculpt figures (or buy a bunch of them, they tend to be rather cheap, especially with the non-commercial use ones). They tend to give you a good base for scaling and a solid core to work from.

First off, I think it is great. You really have a knack for figures. I with I had half the skill you have. I also picked up some Fimo like TM uses. I have not gotten to it yet. How is it less easy to work with compared to SS?
Let's talk about the figure:
I love the face, I don't know if it is the light or the angle or if it is the face itself, but it almost has an elvish quality to it. Im not intirely sure what that quality is though...
Are you doing clothes? It kind of looks like he has a shirt and pants on. If that is the case will you be defining them?
I have really only have two pieces of constructive criticism: The neck may be a little long (thought I am no expert with proportions). And will you be smoothing out the sculpt more? Have you tried olive oil and colour shapers yet... it works great.
Again, I am very impressed and it is an improvement over the last one. Keep it up!

Thank you everyone.
sotf, I have some Reaper dollies around somewhere. I've been making the armatures that Tom Mason shows in his videos, and they seem to be working for me. I have a cheat sheet taped to the bottom of my cutting mat with all the measurements written down so I know how far along the wire I need to twist the wire and make bends.
veracocious, Yeah, I got the Taken King edition of the PS4 and it's stealing all my time. I don't play many video games, because I'm not very good at them, so sometimes I do get sucked in. And Thank You.
Erasmus, I've heard that Taken King is a big improvement. It's working for me.
