I recently posted a couple of my Reaper Bones miniatures in another thread and received a very positive reception. In light of that feedback I thought I might start my own miniature painting gallery of sorts. Oh and some terrain! Anyhow, I'll post my newly painted things here. Comment if you like, tips and criticism are always welcome as I have only been painting for about a year. Can't remember if I commented about them in the other thread, but I really like these. That shield is awesome! Can't wait to see more.

Does anyone have any tips on painting Plastic models to look like wood? I'm working on a cannon and the carriage is giving me fits.

The Ultimate Miniature Painting GuideI would say, its a light primer coat, then a dark base coat, followed by fine, lighter textured secondary coat, contrasting the wood grains you are creating, you might want to even scrape something like a tiny garden rake over the second coat surface, to give it a grainy look. Highlight the top edge of selected 'raised' grains to give it a real 3D look, and the more attention to fine detail you invest the more wood-like it is going to look at the end.

Since the cannon carriage is giving me so much trouble I decided to paint up this nasty guy. I used some rusting and weathering techniques I haven't tried before. Let me know what you think. Attachment Deleted

And after the U.S. Hockey teams embarrassing defeat at the hands of a very competent Finland, I decided the only cure was to paint up this Khorne Chaos warrior because Blood For The Blood God! Attachment DeletedI feel like this one looks better in person. My Iphone combined with poor lighting makes him look a little sloppy. I definetly like the green Nurgle Chaos warrior better.

Sweet man, those look great. I'm going to be painting my HQ chaos warriors in the near future, so really cool to see these for some inspiration. The rust on the chain mail and the weathering looks great. What was the technique you used?

I watered down a reddish brown paint and a red to a very thin consistency and applied it to places I thought would be prone to rust. The chipping on the shield was just a lighter shade of green with a metallic silver in the center. Both effects were applied after all the washing was complete. I did something similar to what Warboss Tae did toward the end of this video

Cool, thanks. I didn't actually notice the chinks in the shield, but they look great.

This is what happens when you over use a dark wash. Hopefully I can save it with some highlighting. Attachment DeletedAnd here are a couple of bases I made from balsa sticks. Attachment Deleted

Time for some terrain! This was my first attempt at terrain making. It turned out ok but could definetly use some detail on the stone work. Attachment DeletedAnd from the top ( I use it to house my Dice lol, where did the rest go?) Attachment DeletedNext I did a stone circle Attachment Deleted

And my current Terrain WIP Attachment DeletedI need to add some plaster to the outside and finish that with a dark brown wash to give it a nice dark age feel.
