Cool! Glad you liked it. Having the weapons loose is nice if somebody throws a dagger or something and you want to mark where it fell.

This isn't so much a build as a setup on an existing build. My party has recently made it out of the caves and has emerged on a craggy mountain. It had been bugging me that my modular rockfaces didn't have grassy tops. So, rather than make a whole new set, I cut out some foam board, beveled it, painted it with glue and green paint, and flocked it. The result is a grassy patch that I can pull off whenever I choose. This one was a valley in the mountain with a cave entrance at the back. The rocky ground is one of my larger cave tiles. Better view.

Thank you. The mountain stuff (the adventure included) has been a great success.

Alright, stepped outside of my comfort zone a bit with this one. I've been thinking about doing some Star Wars terrain for a while and finally took a whack at starship decking. Close-up of my favorite part, the rad little window to wires and pipes and whatnot. I could record the my process for the next batch, if people are interested.

An easier option for decking would be to use a single piece of card for the majority of it. Just use cut outs for things like the windows. If you draw out the plate markings and then use a small, hot glue gun to then trace those lines with a fine bead, you get what look to be welds.

Sweet! Thanks for the advice, sotf. I was thinking I wasn't entirely happy with the large plates.

Brilliant, sotf ! Love that technique. bobtheskull , superb work on the starship decking! Very well done for a first(?) attempt. Did you use the Granny Grating, for the opening to the wires and pipes and such? Would love to game Star Wars, as well as Traveller, but not enough time in life to play D&D, let alone an SF campaign, too... Cheers!

Sweet! Thanks for the advice, sotf. I was thinking I wasn't entirely happy with the large plates. The major problem with the bolted plates that comes up is that you need to keep everything the same distance from each plate or it begins to look off. It's not worth the time and effort to make that work when there are other methods that are just as good in making the same basic effects...

At Sgtslag: Yes, this is my first attempt but I've been planning it for a while. The grate is indeed granny mesh, but I used an exacto to take out some of the sections to show more beneath it.
At sotf: Yeah, I was interested in the cobbled-together look that many of the star wars floor textures seem to use, but I'm planning on a number of floor styles (grates, plates, welds, and such) and then using them in the same setups to create variation. I'll work on my plates.
At erho: Space hulk, huh? Never crossed my mind *evil DM cackle*

Thank you :-) the inspiration partly came from those deodorant builds. I've also been looking for some other ideas to build star wars-ish ships, buildings, tanks, bikes, etc in 28mm.
I've decided that the big ship battling scenes will be "zoomed out" to something like 5mm scale. That way, I don't have to fit 20 six-inch tie fighters onto my table.

I have also been looking at Legion and Imperial Assault. But I'm leaning toward IA because the scale is 28mm and they would work well with the figures I have already for the Star Wars RPG.
And then, when I get back to D&D I'll have deserts and swamps and giant fungus forests and--oh crap. This hobby never ends, does it?
