Ugh!
Guano is poisonous, so make them do Con checks!

Don't forget the insect swarms that could be lurking in that guano!

Don't forget Rot Grubs... Brings back bad memories of my early days of gaming. Ewww!...

:-D Yup. Con checks to stay conscious, and if they get close to the piles, rot grubs and a carrion crawler will be waiting for them. According to the monster manual, those are the only things that can survive the stuff.

This isn't really gaming related, but this has been a fun project. My wife teachs kindergarten and recently asked me to build a treasure box for her class. I don't usually like WIP photos, but I'm really happy with how it's coming along. I started with an old diaper box and added cardboard planks that I sculpted with a razor blade. Then I dragged a pen through the cuts to define them. Please ignore the horror-movie-esque workshop. I'm a slob.

I made these modular treasure piles a couple weeks ago but just got around to getting some pictures. The build is simple, just a few blobs hot glue that I painted and flocked with glitter to give an exaggerated coin pile look. Stuck those to some clear plastic to see terrain through it. But the real star are these bits and bobs. They are all separate and can be used anywhere. It can be a bit of a pain to assemble a big one of these, but you can prep it in advance on a tile and lay the whole thing down. And if you're wondering about storage, just keep them all together in a small, lidded case.

Started painting the wife's treasure box today. The silver on the banding comes next.

Booby trap it with peanut brittle snakes!
Make the weapons?

Oh, yeah, I forgot to talk about that. For the little weapons you can use bits if you have them, but I built the hafts with bbq skewer and the blades with tag board (like thick cardstock). The various other pommels and such are hot glue blobs. The weapons are actually a little big for 28mm but its not that noticeable.

"Heroic Scale" 28mm, like Warhammer!

Exactly like that. I've actually been learning a lot about scale lately. Got really interesting when I tried to get some cars for my zombie game.

The finished treasure box I made a few small tweaks that no-one will notice but me and finished all the metallic parts. I really wanted to add more details like a realistic lock, hot glue rivets, weathering on the planks--but I had to tell myself no. It's for kids. They're going to be psyched no matter what it looks like.

Thank you :-) there are a few little things that drive me nuts about it. The lid is just a bit cockeyed.

Your treasure pile concept is excellent! Love the technique of using Hot Glue for an armature, with glitter forming the final surface. What an incredibly easy means to the wonderful end. Learned something entirely new. Love it! Cheers!
