Bobtheskull ( the nickname its from monkey island =o ? Fairly sure it's from the Dreseden files - especially given the avatar I really like the rocks - I may have to shamelessly steal that idea ^^

Hey, somebody on here gets me! Yup, it's the Dresden files. I was trying to think of something that would give magical advice. And you can totally copy those rock faces.

I'm glad you liked the forest bits. I didn't realize how much of it I was making. I just bought the trees on eBay (40 multi-scale trees with foliage for 14 bucks) and built the bases to put them on from foam board.

I recently tried a new technique to craft some larger cave formations. And I actually remembered to get a photo of the modeling stage! These are simple armatures that I made from toilet paper roll, although they aren't quite a realistic shape. Then I covered them in sand and Duram's rock hard water putty (though plaster or spackle would probably work). Here they're pictured painted and washed up. Sorry about the shadow on the column. And here our party is really having a bad day.

Hey!! Nice work on those, very inspirational!
I recently finished the toilet paper stalagmites per Scotty's vid, kinda wanting to try yours now

Yup I have a set of the paper towel ones myself. So, after I made the cones and put them on bases, I mixed up some modeling goop with some Duram's, some sand (which I probably didn't need, actual cave formations are quite smooth), and some glue. If you mix it kind of thick, the goop will have some memory. Keep your brush strokes going up on the stalagmites, and stipple over flat surfaces. It will probably take a long time to dry, but when it does, just paint it up.

Thank you. I wasn't sure how the dark gray wash would turn out, but it gives it kind of a dark cave look.

Your group seems to have a problem with spiders.
Should have burned that dungeon down when they had the chance!
Love the work!

erho,
Yup, those pesky spiders got out and are running amuck. Hope they don't get any Ettercaps to help them out...
