Does anyone have any tips about this material. Mainly Milk Jugs. I am looking at ways to make helmets, shields, and, breastplates out of it. I want to make some sort of form or mold out of plaster. I would use a heat gun or maybe boiling the high-density polyethylene to soften it so it would conform to the form.

this kind of stuff i think would work well for vacuum forming. the way that works is with a flat surface with holes in it, with some sort of funnel underneath it with at the end a vacuum cleaner attachment. you put the object on the table, plastic on top of it, turn on the suction and use a heat gun to soften the plastic. www.youtube.com/results?search_query=vacuum+forming

Ditto, Davey! There are also instructions at www.instructables.com for making a vacuum form machine: MacGyver Style, and they suggested using cut up milk cartons for creating your blanks.

I have been lazy and not whipped up a vacuum form. I have found that light heat will make it pliable and am having great luck making shields. I am going to try breastplate next.
