A collection of remixed stalagmites. Two of them have a recess to pour in two-part epoxy resin. StalagmitesI put a half buried sword in one.

Easily create your own sealing wax for in-game letters. I have used tons of sealing wax over the years, but I have never found one that worked as well as this DIY wax. 1) I am using the wax that comes at the top of a Makers Mark bottle of bourbon. 2) Create a simple mold. I am using wood scraps that are wrapped in parchment paper. Add a piece of string that will become the wick. 3) Melt the wax and pour into the mold. 4) Let it cool and then demold. Trip the excess string.

No offense taken. Just saying you shouldn't be worried about posting your own designs on thingiverse, even if someone else has created and/or sold something similar.

From your description, I can only imagine that you are talking about me. As far as posting Thingiverse items, dissimilar is great, even similar is okay, it when items are copies or some or all of the original mesh was used that there may be trouble. If you have items that you designed from the ground up, post away. I haven't seen any indication that thingiverse is adversely affecting sale companies. In fact, I think it actually bolsters it. There are currently 25+ design companies specifically for gaming. Most specialize in fantasy (D&D). There is tons of cross over... dungeon tiles, tavern sets, wagons, buildings, etc. Variety is great, and it is what people want. Thingiverse is great place, but it is only half the printing world.
If you are having trouble with people selling direct copies of your work, you may want to change your license from CC to Non-commercial.

Trees

Thanks, everyone!
@shinobi, my first set of trees were all twisted wire. I had just wrapped the trunks with masking tape, and after 15 years they are starting to peal. I should rip the tape off and do hot glue trunks.

How much does it cost to print just say the pig sty out? Everything: Pig sty with roof and beam, 3 sections of fence, and 2 pigs were somewhere around 90 cents total to print.

I've started experimenting with ways to craft trees. I'm using 3D printed tree trunks that I designed, but you could coat a dowel, chop stick, kabob skewer, or cardboard tube with hot glue. The foliage are cotton balls soaked in water/PVA glue. I pulled the cotton balls apart as best as I could and then formed them in to little wet cotton ball pancakes and set them aside to dry. The tree trunks are only as tall as where the foliage starts, so to create the upper core of the tree, I drilled a hole in the top of the trunk and glued in a kabob skewer with the point up. When the cotton ball disks were dry, I pushed them onto the skewer one at a time until I formed a nice tree sized stack with a little PVA glue between them. Next I coated the outside of the cotton balls with PVA glue and flocked with sawdust. When fully dry, paint to taste.

I took my printable Hero's Hoard Pig Sty and added a cardstock base, a hot glue wallow, a couple of printed pigs and a hint of flocking. I think it turned out pretty good. I then took a Reaper Bones townsfolk mini, cut away his pitchfork and torch, and added a printed shovel and pipe.
