For michka. My Star Wars break from D&D. Man, it felt good to switch gears and work on something sci-fi. It seems like there are tons and tons of great materials that can be turned into sci-fi terrain. I had a blast working on this: Just some random items: blue tealight, plastic cocktail forks, plastic top to a 4-pack of beer, clear plastic tube, orange plastic rod.... The top to some large roller, plastic top to a 2-pack of lemon juice, a couple of beads, and some greenstuff/procreate cables. Super glue it all together.

Freaking Awesome!!! I knew you'd come up with something interesting. Moff Tarkin looks like he's enjoying his rejuvenating bacta treatment too.

Wow... just wow. I don't even have a scifi campaign but not I simply have to do something like that too!

Now that is an awesome build!!! I like the fact you can put a mini in it although I would love to see one with a figure suspended in a liquid too.
Now I just need to find the right pieces of junk to copy this in 6mm scale ;-)

The lighting really sets the piece off. I'm going to have to incorporate the electronic tea light in my build. Great job!

Great job man. I just saved my beer plastic top as well last night. I think you should keep doing some sci fi stuff.

Thanks everyone! It was great being able to look through my bits bin with a different genre in mind. I bet I had the plastic beer top and the juice top for almost a year. There are so many little pieces of molded plastic that come on/with just about anything we buy that have lots of potential.
I cant get over how refreshed I feel. Breaking up my thought process ,even for an evening, has knocked out the crafting cob webs I was getting from all the fantasy builds I was doing. I feel like I spilled some bacta on me. I highly recommend crafting a small pieced here and there that is a completely different genre than you typically work on. It works wonders!

Yeah, I am primarily a fantasy guy... and I am constantly seeing/saving pieces that are only suited for modern or sci-fi.
Great job on this! I love seeing stuff that is kitbashed together from "nothing" into an awesome final finished product like this!

my only concern in a star wars setting is that everyone wants to be a jedi... otherwise i'd so play a star wars themed game.

Just set your game after Order 66 has been issued and say that Jedi are off-limits for that particular game.

Actually, this looks more like a holoprojector with the way the lighting works

my only concern in a star wars setting is that everyone wants to be a jedi... otherwise i'd so play a star wars themed game. In all of the SW games I have run, I find the opposite to be true. Most people want to be a grey-area Han Solo type. I usually like to have one Force Sensitive aspiring jedi in the group... but it doesn't always happen. I run games just before the events of ANH. The Imperials are the school yard bully, the rebels are a rag-tag group of ill-equipped losers...er freedom fighters, and the jedi are out there somewhere but incredibly rare. Players seem more concerned with creating a great ship crew: one captain, one techy, one bruiser/weapon expert, one pilot, etc. Their driving force is getting an awesome junker, paying it off, and then supping it up (sometimes not in that order). That has been my experience, anyway.

One more note about Jedi. A YouTuber named Noah Antwiler, more commonly known as Spoony, has a video that sums up how to solve the issue. Either all Jedi, or no Jedi. Either it's a campaign focused on Jedi, or no one gets to play the Jedi. It's the only fair way to play. After decades of Star Wars games, I think he's right about this one. (I don't agree with many of his other beliefs, but the Jedi thing I can agree on.)
