43mm is tall compared to regular human-sized 'standard' minis.
Faries, if portrayed right, can be quite intimidating: Immortal (or quasi-immortal), with moralities that mortals just can't get the hang of, masters of 'wheels-withing-wheels' intrigues and an unknowable arsenal of magical powers. All that practically screams 'BEHAVE!', and the characters do well to heed that warning.
Now giant faeries... downright frightening! *evil DM grin*

They are, at least in Celtic folk lore, are beautiful. capricious, & fey. They kidnap babies, take people on time trips, & generally do nasty stuff. These two could be in the Faerie Nobility; definitely not to be messed with. Nothing new was done with the Flying Folk; re, I got into Spooky Tree mode. I have an empty spot in The Woods that needs filling: ...a Brave Mordheimer volunteered to stand next to The Trees for a size comparison: ...never to be seen again.

Thanks for the reply, tauster. I am happy you picked up the scariness under the whimsy. I look at the Trees & image being seven or so walking home on an early Winter early evening, seeing the claw like branches of the surrounding trees silhouetted in the moonlight. It pays not to grow up.

There's not much to show for today's work: eighteen normal(?) mushrooms & a Goblin Monk who will be living in one of the Trees: ...Felonious The Monk is a towering 10 mm in height. Here he is outside his Tree: ...that was underwhelming.

I've seen him before. He was lurking with Padre. Glad to see him striking out on his own. Or maybe it was his "good" twin. Looks great. I like the trees a lot too. I might try mod'ing some twigs.

You have a good memory, Sam. The Padre comes with a Monk. I don't think Rebel Miniatures/Dark Hold call him a Padre, but that is how I think of him. The Little Guy also is available in a pack of ten. I picked that up with the idea of having him pop up in all sorts of unlikely spots. I'm glad you like the Trees. Twigs & bark are excellent scenery pieces...definitely quicker than doing the trunk from scratch. Thanks for the reply!

I received your package today, and boy did you turn this wednesday into Christmas Eve! I made a longer post here so I don't spam your thread. Thanks a lot for those beauties! Being able to turn them around in my own hands is much better than just looking at the pictures (which are already great), so expect to see me playing around and trying to come up with my own versions soon. I'm still waiting four your wishlist so I can decide which size the return package will have to have. I already picked a small mountain of stuff. Thanks a lot!

I really am happy you like the stuff. I'll go shopping later on today. Have a good night!

Lest I forget, I decided that the ambulatory Mushroom Wizard needed some Muscle, a Flunky, & a more wizardly cap. SO: ...the W.I.P. Flunk looks suitably impress with the new cap: ...have a good night!

I'm giving it a go. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Raided my neighbors yard for some twigs, glued on some beads for eyes, cut a kerf where the mouth will be, drilled holes for the arms, hot glued to cardstock base (will probably have to add a washer) Glued on toothpick teeth, textured a little with hot glue, don't have green stuff, glued on arms Added some glue to arms, gave it a quick base coat. Not going to be a Deafnala masterpiece, but I like how it looks. More work to do yet.

Sam, did you bake your sticks to cure them before you started crafting with them? There's a good chance of mold and other nasty things when you work with uncured organic materials.

I usually just give the twigs a good coating of workable fixative or matte finish. Thus far I haven't had any mold or bug issues. That aside, your Tree is LOOKIN' GOOD, Sam. The hot glue worked well for the mouth. That is a TERRIFIC START!

That poor flunky is epic!
Sam, you might try drying some roots from larger weeds for the branches. You can get the finer branch systems and they are often less fragile than the littlest branches of trees or shrubs. They do need to be somewhat woody, though, so this might be the wrong time of year to try that.
