It occurred to me that I had done a Face How-To for another Forum. SO, after a brief search, I found the photos on PhotoBucket. The Face is one over a door in The Blight. I begin by gluing the eyes/beads in place; these are 6 mm seed beads: Next a T Shaped green stuff piece is placed between the eyes: Squeeze the bridge of the nose to form a ridge & press it in place. The area below the nose is spread out to for the upper lip. Press the mouth shape; open up the nostrils. Then form the lower lip & chin...a separate ball could be added for the lip or chin depending on how pronounce you want the chin & how much of the T is left after the upper lip is formed: add two balls of green stuff om either side of the nose for the cheeks & jaw: Draw the green stuff down to the jaw line, frame the mouth, & add the lower lids. The add green stuff for the brow, hair, & ears: Do the coif & ears like so: AND the finished Face: These are my favorite sculpting tools (from Gale Force 9). The top one is my primary tool. The lower one is a dental pick; it's great for positioning the beads/eye: I will gladly answer any questions...about the sculpt that is.

AND while I'm here, I have the New Mushrooms on the block base coated: ...more later...maybe.

Thanks a lot for the tutorial! I remember having seen it in the past, but I had totally forgotten about it. I'll try it as soon as real-live gives me another time window. Can't wait...

I am sure you can do it; I'm impressed by the things you have come up with in your various threads. The offer of samples still stands.

Your stuff is always sooo good. Thanks for the kid reply, Paul! I am happy you enjoy the stuff, especially as you have been such an inspiration to myself & a horde of others. If you should need any Mushrooms or such for your Dungeon, I'd be delighted to send you some. Despite all the sighing & staring into space that Spring Fever requires, I did finish a Faerie Fellow & all the Faerie Wings. The finished Faerie: ...the finished duo: ... AND two to go: ...more later...or not.

Another triple-a posting (awesome as always). I just realized that there is one thing your work lacks: Tentacles. Let me see if I can do something against that lack... *goes away, humming*

Awesome stuff, as usual. Since your mushrooms have faces, does that mean they are myconids?. And, if you put tentacles on one, is it an illithid myconid? And if it is illithid, does it need to get a green card? Just wandering. Reply not needed.

Let me see if I can do something against that lack... *goes away, humming* Thanks, tauster. I am happy you are enjoying it all. Tentacles are The Thing for creepiness. I can always find a spot for them...the more inappropriate the better. If you should need any Mushrooms or such for your Dungeon, I'd be delighted to send you some. Oh yes please! I could certainly do with some mushrooms and yours are the best ones out there. I'm delighted you took me up on the offer. I send you a P.M.. I never did figure out how to do that article I promised you years ago; SO this would be a bit of a belated substitution. Awesome stuff, as usual. Since your mushrooms have faces, does that mean they are myconids?. And, if you put tentacles on one, is it an illithid myconid? And if it is illithid, does it need to get a green card? Just wandering. Reply not needed. Thanks, Sam. I'm glad you like the stuff. Davy Jones style tentacles are an idea I hadn't considered before....a good idea is a treasure. He probably only needs nutrient rich soil & dim lighting. There seems to be a lot of nutrients around lately.

Not entirely sure, but perhaps some more metallic or shimering type paints would work better for the wings to give the almost gossamer look of insect wings?

I could try it with the next batch. I think Americana has a glitter style paint. The only drawback would be the matte spray finish. I'd probably have to go for a brush on sealer after a workable fixative spray.

You could drybrush a pearlescent effect color on the wings after teh matte spray finish.

You could drybrush a pearlescent effect color on the wings after teh matte spray finish. That would work also. It has the advantage that I could then do a gloss or satin brush on finish. If I go for that effect on another set of Faeries I will have to give it a try.

One of the L.A.Fers gave me a link to Bog Miniatures Mushroom stuff on Face Book: www.facebook.com/Bogsminis/The stuff was so cool I had to give it a try. They are similar to one of my type, but with added arms & feet. I have one in progress & one just about all sculpted: I also converted & base coated a new Evil Faerie Sorceress, formerly a West Wind's Dwarf Wars Good Wizard: ...base coated: Her face has a certain alien other worldliness that should work well with the Fey Faerie Folk image. AND later the same day, the Mushroom with The Bone has his cap finished & his footsies added: Have a good night!

Yesterday I added a lantern to the Mushroom with the open hand & made three matching normal-but-large mushrooms. AND converted a West Wind Wizard to another Flying Fellow: ...seen here with the Sorceress: For those interested in size/scale, these West Wind miniatures are tall; 43 mm from head to toe.
