I love the face on the toadstool! Thanks for the kind reply, bluecloud2k2. He does have an endearing smile. I am happy you agree. ... AND the next day: Faerie Goblins Two & Three are ready for some paint. Number Three is waiting for his Mushroom's Green Stuff to dry for the white on black treatment: ...meanwhile Number Four buzzing a freshly made Mushroom: ...The Mushroom: Periodically I do a G.W. Gnoblar & Night Goblin mix for a particularly weeedy Goblin, one destined for a life of menial labor: ...these unfortunates usually get names like Beastly Burden. This one may get his own base or get stuck with some oppressively large Fellow...time will tell.

[snip] After putzing around with some new Mushrooms: Alan, what's that mechanical gizmo with the gatling-like gun in the background, or middleground to be nitpickingly overexact?

Alan, what's that mechanical gizmo with the gatling-like gun in the background, or middleground to be nitpickingly overexact? That is a Lead Adventure Steam Punk Robot. He/It/Whatever is destined for a vignette in the Blight setting. This is the base ; the Bot will be on patrol outside the front door as the Gnome makes his getaway: ...here he is with his Mechanic (Bomb Shell Babes) & Associates (Reaper): Today I plodded along with the bases. Robespierre & Faerie Fellow #01 are just about done base-wise with some static grass to be added at the very end of the process: ...the rest of the Fly Boys are closing in fast: ...more tomorrow. Sweet dreams!

Alan, I realized just now that I have no idea how you apply paints to the grass... without getting too much paint on some of the blades of grass.
Do you simply drybrush it on? I imagine that single blades of grass tend to bend away from the brush 8and the paint on it)... or is it stiff enough for drybrushing?
Also, that gnome house... is one of the awesomestest creations. Simply wow. I wouldn't ever have even considered using that color pallette. Magnificent!

Simply wow. I wouldn't ever have even considered using that color pallette. Magnificent! A dry brush is basically all I do on the various grasses. The really long marsh grass gets a medium brown (Americana Milk Chocolate) wash then a Marigold (Americana) dry brush & a Buttercup (Folk Art) highlight. I just gravitate toward bright colors. It could be all the flashy historical pieces I did or some Gypsy blood in the genes. I am delighted you like it.

The Weedy Revolutionary, Robespierre is done: ...seen here on his journey to Heep's place...it's like a pilgrimage to the Jack Daniel's Distillery: ...did you hear something?: ...from various angles: ... AND wandering off into the Sunset: ...Heep's Place for those who are familiar with it: ...sweet dreams!

Is that mushroom doing The Sid Shuffle? ...that is a possibility. He does seem to show up wherever Robespierre goes. I could see him bellying up to the bar next to Robespierre at Heep's.

I sure would not want to navigate those ladders after a night of drinking. And no handrail. That's just cruel.

Gotta make the mushrooms... I love them. They add that signature look to your figures. I made stained glass puffin sun catchers for a several months, selling them on consignment. The guys in the hobby shop would always say "Gotta make the puffins" when I stopped in. I made other stuff, but the puffins were popular.

The guys in the hobby shop would always say "Gotta make the puffins" when I stopped in. I made other stuff, but the puffins were popular. I started making Mushrooms as something to do with the extra plumbers epoxy from bases...scrolls were another use for the excess. When I started using green stuff, the faces started. Now they are a big part of my world & what comprises it. I am delighted you like them.

... I'm as restless as a willow in a windstorm; I'm as jumpy as a puppeton a string. I'd say that I had Spring Fever but I finished fleshing out the Faerie Goblins AND finished one. These are the ones fleshed out: ...the finished Faerie Fellow: ...with a closeup of the Fly Boy: ... AND Mushroom: ... PLUS a Group Photo: ...or two: ...now back to staring into space.

Holy cats this is amazing!!! I haven't been on the forums much lately. Like for the past year lately. So it had been a while since checking out your threads. Well I just spent a good forty minutes scrolling through all the loveliness and had an absolute treat. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. And I apologize for the excessive use of the like button. Oh screw that. I apologize for nothing. You deserve it.

It is always a big boost to my morale/motivation to have my peers approval & it is always appreciated. I am delighted you like the stuff. WELCOME BACK!The siren call of The Green Stuff...it's taken over from The Wild...had me knock out three new Mushrooms:
...now while they cure, I'll get back to the serious business of painting Faerie Goblins.

You know Alan, I'd love to see a video tutorial with you sculpting one of the faces that are so typical for you. I can't sculpt my way out of a greenstuff roll, but seing others on screen at least gives me some clues.

I can't sculpt my way out of a greenstuff roll, but seing others on screen at least gives me some clues. If I had the cam thingy, I'd accommodate you on the tutorial. I could send you some samples if you'd like. Having something in hand makes it easier to get how it is done. Next mushroom or other type face I will try to take a few step by steps photos.
