You should make a mold of the mushroom guys, they are amazing. Thanks for the reply, The Brave. I am happy you like the Mushroom Fellows. Two Guys from other fora were going to make some molds of my Mushrooms. Thus far neither has come up with any clones. The upside of no molds is that each new Mushroom is unique...and I do enjoy making them.

And even your panicked guy got painted! Thanks for the reply, margaret. Leo had to get painted. As my size comparison Guy, odds are he will be the most photographed miniature I will be painting. He does have he proper appreciation of the situations he will be dumped into.

love 'm!!! These would be awesome for Fighting Fungi from Ganesha Games. Thanks for the reply & the suggestion. I am glad you like the Mushroom Guys. I hadn't heard of the game, but I will check it out. I live in the hope of getting into some gaming group some day. Some day & never are starting to become synonyms.

She's cute. Reminds me of Carly Simon. ...now that you mention it. It's probably the abundance of teeth. Thanks for the reply, Sam. I always loved Carly Simon.

Their time has come...I started painting the Black Tree Dwarfs, The Zwerenjagers. These are Black Tree's own miniatures. When these are done I plan on doing the Harlequin Dwarfs I got from Black Tree...they've all been waiting patiently for awhile. ...the Dashing Captain on the far right recruited the Vertically Challenged Hunters as a Mercenary Contingent for The Blessed Order of the Gooey Death: ...now on to painting the miniatures proper.

That's a really interesting technique, drybrushing them grey before filling in the colours. Seems to pay off though - they look fantastic painted up. I'm particularly jealous of your eyes, deafnala! I can never seem to get them right.
This whole thread is full of imagination and inspiration. I love the way your board/terrain/workshop looks. I would love to play a game on it, it'd be almost like playing inside a twisted fairy tale.
Looking forward to what comes next!

It's actually a white over black dry brush; it does look gray & sometimes blue in the photos. I'm glad you are enjoying my stuff. The Twisted Faerie Tale look is what I was trying to achieve; ergo, I'm delighted you picked it up. For the eyes I just paint the area in black...slightly larger than the eye is intended to be. Then I paint in the white leaving a black border. The pupil is done in black doing a line from top toward the bottom lash. I'm never certain what I will finish next. SO I'm looking forward to it also.

Deafnala, that's an great way to paint eyes, thanks for sharing.
A friend of mine showed me a technique to paint eyes that makes them look good as well. You start by base coating the mini. The eyes are painted before any flesh tone is applied to the face of the mini. To start, you paint a white stripe across where the eyes are. Then you paint the eye color, not as a circle but more of an oval, making sure the ends of it extend above and below the white of the eyes. Finally, you paint your iris, again, not as a circle, but more of an oval. the ends of it should also extend, just a little be above and below where the original white is. Finally, you paint your flesh tone on, which covers the over paint of the white, the eye color and the pupil.
It makes a very good looking eye, might be a little more exaggerated of an eye than in real life, but eyes don't look like perfect orbs in the head, so it creates a realistic looking eye.

I am glad you like the eye method, skunkape. I have been doing the eyes before the flesh over the last couple of years. Working from the skin out has been my method since it was the advice of Imrie or Risley way back in my misspent youth.

..."whenever it is a damp, drizzly November in my soul"...I make Mushrooms, The motivation for the Black Tree Fellow has waned, SO yesterday I started some more Mushrooms: ...with a few larger ones ready for green stuffing: ...this is the Mushroom Patch todate: ...alternately the Vertically Challenged Ones from Harlequin may get some attention: ...or not.

Wow. You got a lot of stuff "in the wings". The mushrooms look great as usual. It is a damp drizzly April here. And my knees ache.
