Did someone say the rules set was free? I'd like to take a look...
I'm currently crafting my own rules set, I call it Simple Skirmish System (S^3)

2 Hour Wargames has 2 sets of "light" rules on the website, Chain Reaction and Swordplay. It'll give you a taste of how it all works.

If that middle of nowhere is in Europe I might be interested in an online game. Not sure if Europe has something similar to Craigslist (on line but localized classified ads), might be worth a shot trying to place an ad on there for a group or saying you are seeking a group.

being a dnd player, i wasn't sure if you had thought about other races, like halflings, gnomes, bugbears, hobgoblins, gnolls, ect.. as far as attributes go for them
Halflings i was thinking 2 things, 1 was go for there range bonus, {-Natural Shooter- Halflings count 1 rep higher when shooting (non shooting would still miss on a pass 1d6)} and the other one i was thinking was something more new like {-Lucky- Once per adventure the halfling can have his opponent re-roll the impact damage die, he has to take the new roll}. or should it be more like the dwarves attribute, or first OD is treated like OOF can be healed by a healer and rolls 2d6 for him self keeping the best 1
Bugbears have always been stealthy/sneaky so i would give them {-Stealthy- Bugbears add +1d6 on the charge into melee test, and never count the active penalty to charge into melee test.
Hobgoblins have always been well discipline and newer versions have been getting cooler thing when near allies {-Team Fighter- Hobgoblins count as being shielded when they have allies near them
Gnolls i would just due as Beastmen
what do you think?

Warhammer Quest can be played solo, but only if you can find the damn game. It goes for ridiculous money whenever I find it. Although if you can find the rules somewhere you can make the tiles (it's one of the driving factors here), find miniatures (Reaper Bones would suit nicely, and not be too expensive), and make doors to replace everything in the game.
Hell, I've always suspected DMG was making his tiles as a replacement for the ones in Warhammer Quest. Of course his are cooler, and more varied. I wonder if he's considered making cards for his tiles. Yes, I have. I am illustrating them now

When I wanted to start up my last several groups, I posted an ad in the local gaming store, but the same could be posted on CL, or similar sites, to attract players. My ad stated that I was conducting interviews for seats at my table: this was true, but it was also a screening technique to make it easier to brush off people who had personalities I did not want to game with/invite into my home... I had a list of interview questions which I designed to get a feel for their style of play, as well as their personality. If they were not my type of gamer, I told them in a friendly manner, that all of the seats were filled, but that I would like to keep them on file, in case some of my prospective players did not work out -- it was a nice way of letting them down, without offense, and they were always happy to hear that they were "on file", should there be an opening.
The interviews worked well, for the most part. Some folks I discovered later, were not really my type of gamer, but nothing bad happened. I eventually moved over an hour away, so I was able to break off gaming with them cleanly. I repeated the interview process in my current city, with even greater success. Just a suggestion on another way to proceed. Cheers!

I generally do an interview with all new prospective players as well! Like sgtslag, I think it works well and you generally get a player with a better fit that way!
