Rouseau has posted a while ago a TMNT thread, and in a kappa mini thread, i saw some 2012 TMNT figures repainted and based to use in an RPG. Those thing appealed a lot to me as i've been a Turtles fan forever, beacause i grew up with the 80's cartoon. So i ordered those 2012 TMNT minis, but there's just the 4 of them in there, plus 2 foot ninjas, 1 robot krang, 1 krang, Splinter, April and Shredder. Some important characters were missing. I did a bit of searching on the net to find some mousers, Baxter Stockman, Karai, but foremost i wanted some cool Bebop and Rocksteady, since they're both my favorite characters of the series. I did get to see mousers and other pretty neat figures made in the 80's by Dark Horse, but they sell horribly expensive because they're collectors item. So i began thinking about modifying some heroclix i have for quite some time now and never used. I stumbled upon an inspiring image of bebop and rockteady on the net: So i chose two of the figures i had: First i modified them by cutting the plastic excess on the boots of both of them. Cut the hair on the figure on the left and started to apply hot glue on both of them to sculpt their heads. I used toothpicks for the horns, there's just one on the pick but i chose to put a second later in the process. For Bebop i used a bit of cork for the nose, toothpicks for those defenses and cardstock for the mohawk. then on Bebop i applied some toilet paper with glue to create the sleeveless coat he has on, but i wasn't satisfied with the tights the base figure is wearing so i added some on the pants. The magic all happened when i painted them, as i tried to keep a comic book style with the painting. I did some fine black lines on the figures to give the illusion that they were drawn. This is it for now but i intend to put more TMNT themed things on here. I have a T.O. Morrow mini that is dying to become a Baxter Stockman and a Manhunter that is probably going to become Karai. Mousers i still have to figure out because the dark horse ones were radical dudes!

seeing this gives me the urge to play TMNT RPGs instead ! STOP GIVING ME URGES !!!
awesome works. loved the mousers, hand made yet they look like real out of the line buyable minis. thats just awesome.
do you intend on making a fly stockman ? i really hope so, cause i loved the old 90ies design by far.
i got only one thing that irks me... that rocksteady... great job on the changes to make him look good. its the colors that irks me... i thnk hes way too dark.

Thanks Paladin. Yes, i do intend to craft a fly stockman, but he won't be based on the 90's cartoon. I want him to fit with the human stockman i did (that is based on the 2012 TMNT cartoon). Here's the figure i'll be using as a base for him: I shortened his legs, cut those antenna-like things on his shoulders and hips and put some toilet paper and glue to simulate torn up clothes. He'll have a purple shirt, blue pants and brown skin. I also want to craft him a pincer-like hand like on this picture: For Rocksteady, I wanted to go with the 80's figure color scheme, not the cartoon. I think it's the picture that is too dark. I'll try taking another one to see if it's better. If it's not, i'll try repainting him. Thanks for pointing it out. I'm quite proud of my mousers, but it's the paint that makes them look good. I have a couple more in the making, i'll post a picture of an unpainted one to show what they look like before being painted. I have the 4 turtles coming soon, Splinter, Shredder, April, a couple of foot ninjas. These figures i already have (I have bought a TMNT: My Busy Book), i just need to paint them. I had to craft mini nunchuks and sais, because Mikey and Raph had no weapons at all. But i want to do some more mini conversions as i want to craft Mondo Gecko, Leatherhead, Karai, Scumbug, Slash and some purple dragon gang members, out of heroclix figs. I'll post these on here as soon as they are done. Oh, and sorry for giving you urges Paladin... not ;D

remember, in the 2012 show, mikey do not use nunchucks ! hes using a variant with chains and a spike at the end. dont remember how that weapon is used. they act like nunchuk if the chain is unlocked, but once locked in, its no nunchuks anymore. trying to find it on the net... oh here... they are kusarigama nunchucks.

I've given him a set of nunchuks anyway, not trying to be 100% accurate with the 2012 show. To be honest, for the turtles, i was thinking on going with the original comic book color scheme, with red bandanas and all the same green.
I wanna do a TMNT mutants and masterminds campaign in the near future and took elements of everything i liked about the turtles since the 80's: the darker tone of the original comics, the numerous enemies i liked from the 1988 cartoon (like Bebop and Rocksteady), and elements from the 2012 cartoon (like Stockman and Leatherhead, who looked better than the 1988 version, IMHO)

i haven't read the comics, thats pretty much all i am left to do... weren't those comics black and white ? i watched the forever movie and it showed them pretty much black and white.
yeah leatherhead looks beter int he new show. but baxter... before transformation i love the black guy, after transformation. i love the old one better.

You're right, in the Mirage comics originals they were in black and white, but they were reprinted in colors as "color classics" by IDW comics in 2012.
For Stockman, it wouldn't make sense to craft the 2012 human and the 1988 mutant. So I went the 2012 way, but i agree that (for nostalgia) the 1988 mutant version looks better.

Stockman Fly is almost done! I'll post some pictures soon. But for now... Finally received my TMNT: My Busy Book! I like the turtle figures, but like i said earlier in the thread, Mikey and Raph had no weapons at all. So, i crafted some sais and nunchuks! But i didn't stop there, Don and Leo had their weapons on their back. I wanted the 4 of them to have their weapons in their hands. I did exactly that! Don was the easiest, a toothpick with the pointy ends cut off. Leo was a bit trickier, used a toothpick bit for the handle, a cardstock square for the tsuba (hand guard), and a cut coffee stirrer for the blade. Now I just need to base and paint them. I think i'll go with brown brick bases to represent sewers. I'm looking forward to see them all painted with the same green color, all red bandanas and white eyes. Kinda like on this picture: I'll be posting some more pictures soon, dudes!

KAWABUNGA !!!!!! those look nice... but i think the picture doesn't make them justice...
mikey looks like hes missing an arm. raph looks ok though. donny seems to have cross side eyes. and leo seems to have his head bashed in.
yup, repainting them will make them better for sure. can't wait to see the final product man, you have me hooked.

Oh my... It's been a while since i posted something here! Got a few ones painted lately and they are the main reason i did this thread. They are Teenage Mutants, but they are also Ninja Turtles! BUT first, in an older post i talked about my interest in crafting Baxter Stockman as a mutated fly out of a Grasshopper Heroclix. So, here they are. I'm not entirely pleased with the result but he looks good nonetheless. I did quite a few modification on this one. First, i shortened the legs and because of that i had to adjust the transparent piece under his feet. I cut his right hand and glued a bent wire in a pincer shape in its place. I used that as a foundation and shaped his pincer out of hot glue. I used toilet paper and watered down white glue to put some clothes on him. The wings are some plastic disposable container cut and painted. The mandibles are some wire and the hair is some hot glue. Phew... The other ones are the 4 turtles, not much to say that hasn't been said already. Other than the new weapons to each of them, i just repainted them in a Mirage Comics color scheme. I tried to keep some heavy feathering effect on them, so that they look a bit like hand drawn comic characters. The base is a washer with sculpted foamcore hot glued to it. I am very pleased with the result. The pictures don't do them enough justice, they look a bit better in person. There will be some more as i paint them, I have a plan for human Bebop and Rocksteady, Mondo Gecko, Leatherhead, Turtlebot, Foot Ninjas, Purple Dragons, Hun, Karai, Shredder, Slash, Scumbug and Wingnut. They will all be made out of modded Heroclix. As soon as i have more to show, i'll post them here.
