So I'll post pictures as the game progresses and more is revealed to the players. First is a tentative arrangement of paper craft components, as it will look when stuck together on the table, there will be dust, cobwebs and some rubble added later.. its the entrance to a large, underground, inverted ziggurat dungeon, with each level built by different races and cultures/civilisations over thousands of years. Here are a couple of shots of the game in action as the players fight an Assassin Imp and a White (chrono) Slaad in front of the Ziggurat entrance.. the cavern is just a base board and some cut up, black foam rubber.. the really interesting bit is the little bits of plasticine and goo in between some foam rubber bits.. that is actually Hubba Bubba Watermelon Squeeze Pop... its a sticky sugar syrup confection that I used as dungeon terrain, to impress on the players that the fungus patch was sticky and horrible, difficult terrain.. it was highly effective.. not one of them put their miniature on those bits of the board the entire game session, and I am going to have a hell of a lot of fun with this idea later on.. The White Slaad is a fun solo monster as it summons minion copies of itself (six of them) up to three times per encounter, they get killed off and it re-appears to fight on, and this makes for a very dynamic, shifting combat that flanks and confuses the players, added to this an annoying flying imp that can turn invisible, and possibly put a character to sleep with its tail stinger.. and the fight gets amped up a notch, particularly when the Imp seems to want to kill the animal companion of one of the characters, a blink dog called Spot, just out of evil spite! More to come later!

The players have moved up one set of stairs, and are entering the Trap Level, this features illusionary features, sliding and rotating walls, concealed blade traps, acid spray trap, spring loaded floor section trap, pop up circular saw blades trap, angled pop up spikes traps and a flame thrower trap. This is a picture from the end of the game session, after a fight with an Eidolon and some Kruthic, the Minotaur Rune Priest got a foot shredding from the pop up circular saw blades trap, concealed under an illusion of treasure.. The Trap Room and the Treasure Illusion room can swap out as the perspective changes, the characters could only see under the illusionary terrain by looking through a mirror. Trap room, concealed by Treasure room illusion. The Trap Room is rather nasty, all the traps are spring loaded, self reset and have hair triggers.. they can be deactivated by using the acid from the spray trap, to corrode their mechanisms.

Hello everybody! AJ, very cool set! The modeling clay Myconids were fantastic! Good job dude! :-) Whole set was very creative! This dungeon is "Paper Works" material?

Yeah, its an assorted collection of things, but the EZ-Dungeons sets by Fat Dragon Games are the best I have found, very easy to assemble and use. Example from the site's free model section = Market Stall model PDF
Tour of the Fat Dragon Games booth at GenCon 2009, the creator of the product is the guy who smiles cheesily at the camera. As you can see, the sets are pretty good, but playability can be an issue with the tall walls all over the place, however, there is nothing stopping me from cutting the wall heights down by modifying some of the PDF files... The main reason I have hooked onto paper PDF products is that I dislike painting terrain, so printed textures are very handy. Here are some more Fungus Fight photos.. As you can see, it was a busy room! The player characters enter from a ramp that has a drop at one side (10ft) and then a pillar, then a 5ft drop.. in the end, the dwarves at the lead got ambushed by a green dragon which burst out of the green water, it breathed poison over the ramp, everyone made it down the 10ft drop, managed to cave in the roof and block the Sovereign and Brute for a while, the Rot priests and Grunts did a good job of restricting movement and dusting the characters with hallucinogenic spores.. a priestess travelling with the group tried to charm one of the grunts, got sprayed with acid and thrown into explosive puff ball clumps, eventually rescued by the party, who met an ally coming out of the other pond, who fought to met them, then they all high tailed it out of there, diving into the water and emerging downstream in a nice, quiet cavern, in front of the Ziggurat they are now inside of..

The fungus cave tiles are from Skeleton Key Games, correct? I like what Fat Dragon, World Works and Dave Graffam Models put out as far as the textures are concerned, but I wish they made sets with 1/2 to at most 1 inch walls.

I see no reason why, having bought the PDFs, I can't modify the cut-outs images to make my own short walls.
Its not difficult.

I have been using some paper models and floor tiles as well. Mostly Dave Graffam's metal floor tiles. I was also looking for a variety of smallish ships to use as a base for my airships. I came across this site: inkjetpaperscissors.blogspot.com/He had a few nice and simple ship models and he is trying to recreate Laketown from LotR. All his models are free. The ships and the building for Laketown are sized for 25mm-30mm. Though you might like the building models. He has more modern stuff too. Some Serenity stuff, autos from 30s, 40s and 50s.

Nice. Yeah, those are pretty sweet. His stuff looks to be easily as well thought out as Graffam.
Thanks for posting the pics.

outstanding. I never played w/ a D.G. model, but they do look very nice. Scratch that... stunning. The sail is the cherry on top.
