hey everyone i really want everyone to look at this DYI I made!! I am addressing money, i made real in game money so my players can physically buy items, sell, invest, loot and everything! this money even makes it easier for me to steal it! i can create a thug that grabs their coin pouch and runs away. so if you like this please spread it around and give me feedback if you use this idea:) My Campaign Currency!

I like it. Gives them something tangible. You can even make coins for different areas. Changing coins could be a prop that leads to a story arc in a campaign, or cause issues if you try to spend it on the wrong side of a border.

The only problem I see with using the aluminum cans for this is the fact that the metal is very sharp when you cut it and you can injure yourself (or your players) if you don't find a way to dull the edge first.

It's just the mom in me...I've done crafts with soda cans before (pinwheels for my garden, cute, huh?), and sharp edges were always a concern. Sort of the equivalent of running with scissors in your hand (my son lost a bit of and ear to another kid running with scissors!). Those pinwheels were sharp and very shiny, great for keeping away birds and other destructive critters!

If you want to avoid the metal might be able to do some air dry clay, a rolling pin, and a bottle cap.

I think I'm going to dust off my polymer clay, I have some in gold, silver, copper and iridescent. I just have to get this other stuff finished first! Why can't I have a couple of clones around to do my bidding?

Why can't I have a couple of clones around to do my bidding? Clones take too long to grow.... you need to go out and collect the stray animals in the neighbor and train them to be your evil minions! If you want to go for the metal coins try hooking up with someone who is an electrician or working on new building construction. If they are using the metal boxes ask if they can pick you up some of the punch outs. I know when I was doing general contracting work most folks let them fall to the floor and get swept up as trash.

i'm really glad everyone is thinking of new ways to make coins:) I definitely don't think my way is the only way i just wanted to show people on the forum how I made money for my players.
I just think there are a lot of cool things you and your players can do with tangible money.

Half the fun of posting something is seeing new ideas that it creates I never even really thought about having something tangible to use as money for players.

You are right, that is a big drawback to clones. I already have two furry, four-footed minions. I can probably borrow four more from my neighbor. The only problem is they don't have apposable thumbs, but if they did, they would take over the world! Good tip about the punch outs. I hadn't thought of that. Thanks!

I like this. Could be neat if players want to exchange money with eachother. yeah the exchange part was something I thought would be really cool. And I might make different types of currency for different lands in my campaign. I hope people start using tangible money in their games! And if you do show me,im excited to hear peoples responses
