After many delays (5 months) we finally had our first session, where I introduced the 2.5d, grid less play to my players. Their reactions were great and since the session was cut short because of the lack of time, it left them wishing for more... (Special thanks to DM Scotty and TheDMG for the inspiration and introducing the wonderful world of crafting). My plan is to post pictures of our campaign (and my crafted tiles) in this thread so let's jump to it. The heroes are awakened by a large explosion in a burning inn. After helping a fellow traveler who has been trapped in hid burning room, they stroll down the flaming stairs to find the inn's main room ablaze. They tried destroying the barrels to extinguish the flames alas the fortune was not with them so they braved the burning inferno and escaped through the main doors. There they found out that Hillborow, the town they were staying at, is under a vicious attack from troll skyraiders. The battle was bloody and ferocious, weapons were swung, spells were cast... The adventurers were overwhelmed by the sheer power of the attackers when suddenly after a loud roar of a horn, the trolls withdrew in their airship and left the field of battle. Everyone was puzzled what was this attack, until they discovered that another group had kidnapped the elementalist...

It was a great session, but it was only a tip of the iceberg. I was left with almost a full box (60x40) of tiles unused. Till the next session ... . Anyway here are some more pictures of the airships I have made, and some pictures of regular ships I have created for future encounters. Mundane ships w/paddle wheels as propulsion. And with removable upper decks. Mini is here for the scale of the ships.

Painting the airship stand bright blue is great. It doesn't make it invisible, but since bright blue represents air, it's kind of a I'm-not-there effect.

Very cool stuff...especially like the HUGE ale keg thingies, a carefully launched PC could drown in one of those puppies Death by ale lol It almost happened, when the warrior tried to destroy it, to put down the fire, (after a couple of blows he remembered to check the contents of the barrel if it is not ale but some stronger liquor ), now that would have been a "blast"...

The adventure continued yesterday... Our heroes were severely wounded after the attack of skyraiders. Orianna, the orc healer approached them and tended their wounds and since the inn burned to the ground, they were given shelter in the temple of Garlen. The next day,a small but sudden earthquake shook the settlement, just as the towns mayor, Gerill, approached the group and asked them to find out why was the elementalist Sheol abducted. To gather clues they asked around the town and later spoke to Rissa - the apprentice of the missing elementalist. Right in the middle of their talk a guard entered the premise and stated that Orianna the healer went to gather healing herbs with her apprentices and should have returned hours ago. The three adventurers volunteered to join the search parties, and Rissa went along with them. Searching the countryside they followed her trail to a forest clearing. There was a hole in the ground and the trail was leading there... Descending the steep crack in the ground they found themselves in an abandoned mineshaft, where they found clues that the healer fell inside but left. They continued searching the mine. Alas, Kronen the obsidimen warrior and Erelon the swordmaster failed to notice a trap and fell inside, impaling themselves on spikes. After they tended their wounds, they continued through a shaft where they found an activated trap. Searching inside there were the skeletal remains of a mysterious creature, which the nethermancer Lorem recognized as a Horror construct, and it was dead for several decades. They passed around the trap and entered a large hall which was the mine entrance. A group of flying lizards were nesting in the broken cart and went to defend their territory from the intruders. Defeating the espagras, they searched the hall and found that long ago the entrance was walled up, but through time parts of it had collapsed, which allowed the wildlife to enter the mine, but not wide enough for people to go through. Our band of heroes continued searching the mine for the missing healer and her helpers. They discovered that long ago, the miners dug through to a natural cave which had a waterfall flowing down in another cave. They climbed down and followed the underground river. The stream entered into an underground lake in a great cave. Some stones were out of the water which allowed a person to carefully cross to the other side. When they tried to cross it, a strange creature entangled its tendrils around the nethermancer. The others rushed to his aid and after a prolonged battle defeated the creature. The road ahead was open...
