The oil dip I use may be a few bucks cheaper but it does dry in about an hour or two. $4 oil paint tube and $8 can of white spirits.
As for resin(UV hardening at least) minis, I put one in front of a space heater on lowest setting for no more than 5 minutes to dry once, it had cracked nearly in two and was leaking a clear resin that would not harden or dry the rest of the day.

Heres a Nurgle version of the classic Heroquest Chaos Warrior someone over at Thingiverse made: Never painted a Nurgle guy before, all the disease and guts hanging out isnt my favorite cup o' tea!
It was fun and quick, just two evenings, mostly because of the oil wash takes forever to dry.
Cheers everyone!

I also search Thingiverse for the free stuff, but will buy/contribute to the artists when I find a model I really like. I'm also a patron of One Page Rules on myminifactory. I've looked at other artists on myminifactory, but I've only got so much money to spend! LOL! One Page Rules is the shizz, way better than GamesWorkshop for 40k or fantasy proxy skirmish games

Hello!!!
Right to it:
I have 2 minis here to share, one is an old Space Marine from 1987(exact 3d render), and a new 3D sculpt. One I did for nostalgia, as I had this mini for a bit when I was 12 or so, now lost with many others. I saw it available for print so I had to have it again!
Yes I felt the old juices flowing while I painted it simply. This time around Im more familiar with the brush lol. The only thing I did different here was use a black oil wash to finish it off. Highly recommended!
This one was the Personal challenge, really well done sculpt that I had to try my hand at new color combo and non metallic metal technique. I must have repainted that blade and tasset 5 times or more:
Just noticed he doesnt have eye brows.... oh well!
Anyway, I had fun with both and I hope you all find a way to reconnect to the hobby like you did when you started, and push those limits on skill.
Cheers!

Hey!
I use Thingiverse.com mainly, as its mostly free stuff, but Cults3D.com has some but the really nice ones are for sale.
If you need any pointers for a resin printer Id be glad to help. I think Ive seen every problem there is to be had with these things! lol

Same here when I began with no models in high school, just maps on grid paper, as well as 40k and such, no need for grids!
Our group still uses grids occasionally especially with a new player, but I find using rounded templates and a ruler is much simpler and quicker.

Hello!
Heres is a rushed printed 40k Ork Big Mek(mechanic) for my growing Bad Moonz clan:
Ive had some fun making Orks as they need battle damage and just look like a walking scrapyard. Never been a big fan of Orks but they are fun to paint!
Cheers everyone!
Paint stuff today!!

Well in the spirit of keeping content flowing on the board, as well as finishing old half done projects, these are my latest;
Mainly the terrain, I had used all of my Hirsrt arts castings for something to take pics of minis on, the dwarf halberd which is newly finished 3d print. The old robed wizard druid whatever you may have seen in past posts.
Next up is the standoff of another dwarf 3d print, finally finished her and the Ogre Mage with clear coats.
Thats all for now, hopefully more to come soon.
Thanks for visiting!

I have some moulds of hirst arts stone, I'll try to give it a shot.
I imagine it would be fine but the trick is filling the cast so it doesnt warp.
Ive cast plaster in them before, but its so brittle, I bet it would work best as a filler for this type of technique.

Hello! Heres a milestone for my 40k Pile of Shame, finally got the Kopta and the KillaKan completed after 2(maybe 4...) years!
The whole Bad Moonz crew:
Warboss! Probably seen him before....
3d printed KillaKan... I think hes a bit big compared to the real ones but currently the same as a Marine Dreadnought
Big delay on this one was the weathering and damage, not too experienced at it, but I used sponges and oil washes for this guy
The Kopta! He came with the box set, I heard they are useless
I had an Imperial Aquila that broke a while back, so I was able to use it here for an awesome base!
Never been into Orks but this was fun, and I hope you enjoyed seeing them as well!

Hello!
Its been a while but Ive been busy all summer, Ive attempted to paint and complete a few minis but so far its just these two that are done, and I painted them both yesterday.
Not much just trying to practice blending across dissimilar colors; Red-purple-aqua and Blue-aqua-yellow
Hopefully more soon!
