i would put black into those mine doors... you know to show it becomes darker as you look into it. also it would give it depth.
heres an exemple by dmscotty... Fake Perspective Pit
and heres how he did this kind of technique with fake perspectives.

I may hand paint some more in there if it'll give a deeper effect though!

i think something is off then, no camera even with very bad lighting would show black as brown/rust !
in any case i'm just saying based on pictures, if they are fine in real, then do nothing. they are still awesome as they are now !

I really like Drunken & Dragons DMs rolling box with the hidden shelf. I decided to make one myself. Watch his awesome videos on build custom boxes for him and his players. I wanted to be able to conceal at least a few 3" miniatures, my dice and other things. The outer walls are 1"x4" pine, MDF top and bottoms with spruce square dowels for a dice wall on top.

Yup. I have been posting a bunch, probably too much. It just needs felt or the rubber mat rolling surface. It fits a 3" based dragon hidden inside!

Finished painting the abandoned dwarven crane. My original inspiration is courtesy of Drunkens & Dragons, so thanks Hankerin! Also thanks to DMScotty for the videos on cranes also influenced this build!

My prototype players box. It's a downsized version of my previous DMs box (mimicking Drunkens and Dragons). The dimensions are 4" deep, 6" wide and 3.5" tall. I find dice rolling on that dimension is fine but any smaller would be annoyingly restrictive. I just stained it. More photos to come.

In my opinion, both you, and DMScotty, have taken a step backwards in your application of modular tiles. This is not a criticism, but merely food for thought. Both you, and DMScotty, have taken the 2.5D Next concept, and reversed it towards the 1.0 version of 2.5D: you cut up the base mat, creating finitely shaped rooms, though they may be stacked to form more 3D shapes, and configurations. In the original concept of 2.5D Next, the base mat was large, and square. This made it possible to create any size, or shape, of a room, merely by defining the size and shape by deploying the walls on the large, square mat. The non-room areas were ignored, but to change up the design, all that was necessary was to shift the wall sections. Now, with the current take on modularity, you will need to add/remove different cut-out's. Now you will need many different sizes, and shapes of room cut-out's, in your inventory. With the original concept, you could make up an infinite variety of sizes, and shapes, with just a few pieces of wall sections, and a single, large, square mat. To me, this is a reverse in coarse towards 2.5D version 1.0. Again, not a criticism, just an observation. Your table, your game. Do it how you like. For others, however, I want to point out the change in approach, and its requirements (additional room cut-out's/shapes, more storage space required, more labor to make, limited variety of sizes and shapes possible). I hope folks will weigh the differences before they embark on either method, making an informed decision -- or perhaps they will choose to use a combination of both approaches, to garner the best of both techniques! Cheers!

SGT Slag...
I once made a video about what i thought about tiles and each systems and why i finally settled like DM Scotty to Tilescape. the problem is that you consider each tiles an better version of the others. but thats not how that works at all. each tiles have their owns ways of being and their own ways of working. each uses completely different ways. so they are not at all comparable.
