Finished painting up the mind carts! I did two wall segments with levers for opening a large stone door. The left wall had a coat of PVA glue before painting and I think that made the texture of the stonework.

An updated photo of a few tiles more done. In no way am I trying to be overly critical, but I get how good it works to do pop cycle sticks, but I started off doing mine with pop cycle sticks and staining and cutting and pasting. I have about 15 pieces, then I ended up doing foam with a brush. It seemed to look better in the end, less spaces and even and more of a grain look. Here is one guide in how to do it.

I do think the foam made wood looks good, however surface durability is reduced with foam. I went with the popsicle sticks for that reason. When I transport the tiles they can handle the abuse and when players are moving books, soda, minis, and other objects on top of the tiles they withstand the impacts. But still, the wood grain on foam looks great!

But still, the wood grain on foam looks great! If I had read the details on your first post regarding durability, I would have just mentioned it as my preference. You are right that the durability is an issue, although I haven't had them be destroyed yet, but I am sure over time it will happen.

if you allow your players to put books on your tiles, then i think you need more space for your table or for them to bring a tray to put their stuff on instead. i did one tile out of sticks. took way too much time for my needs. if you care a little for your tiles, they can withstand the test of time. its like a car. care for it and yit shall live long. do like my brother an drift every corners and push the gas medal every straight. you are sure to outlive it in a year. same logic for tiles and stuff.
i'll admit the sticks makes it look more real though. while texturing the foam is awesome. closer inspection reveals it not to be real wood. so i see the benefit of both methods. and thus give props to both for their time and effort.

They all still need dry brushing but they're coming along. Also attaching some dollar tree animals bases for my groups druid. He's always summoning rhinos... The totems need the skulls and other trinkets yet.
