I have been searching for this kind of technique for years. And it's so simple in the end... Video tutorial on how to make custom, resilient battlemats without paying through the roof. The secret: a big piece of fabric and... caulking!
I'm sure if you use silicone instead of latex you can then add corn starch for faster curing, but this will have to be tested.

I saw Chung's video on Youtube and thought it was a really great idea! Thought it would be a great way to make roads for games that would be a little sturdier than using construction paper. I'm planning on picking up some canvas toward the end of the month when I have vacation and giving it a try!
