I know this is probably heresy, but one of my players suggested that I make tiles that were double-sided for our Wednesday night game. For some 2.5D tiles, this would be a problem. They would sit off balance in use. I decided to just paint up some 2D tiles and see how that looks. This is the result of my first attempt. Feedback is appreciated.

U could still make them double-sided just have to put the wall edges on both sides. Downfall is u only have that amount of space on the second side to craft a tile layout. Like the pattern u used though. great job!

Why didn't I think of that?

It is a good idea, and I considered it myself (especially for cavern tiles), but I like the full blown 2.5 D effect too much to seperate it from tile making.
But then again...I could gift some of my Tiles to a friend and make flat, 2D geomorphic cavern tiles...

I'm contemplating making a cavern set on one side and buildings on the other side now. I'd probably forgo the aluminum foil that makes it distinct, using a wider array of earth tones to compensate. The aluminum is a lot more work than I'm really willing to do and would make the pieces uneven in height (picky, I am). On the building side, I would make two tiles butted together to form a tavern, church, guild hall, or even a monastery. Each tile would be 9"x9", leaving plenty of room buildings and such.

When I get around to making my modular set I will double side it. Like was mentioned if the walls on the edge are parallel there won't be a wobble. Why have a grey stone dungeon when you can have one grey and one tan stone.

Great idea. If you want modular walls use some well placed magnets.
