Mmmm BBQ. In South Africa we call it a "braai" (pronounced "br-eye") - a national past time just like biltong and boerewors!

I really HATE grids. I am a fan of compact gridless dungeons. I only created the "gridless conversion" video to appease the "grid"lock fans. Wyloch 's method is not only THE best method for dealing with old school maps to tile conversion, in terms of grids it is superior to mine as the entire system is built upon using the grid. My standard system is not. Thank you, that is all. To quote Mortal Kombat "Flawless victory"

Upstate New York to my left, New Hampshire and the rest of New England to my Right. Either way I Defiantly Want a Copy of the Documentary. That's the whole idea. Big 'ol craftin' BBQ! All very good info, thanks @dmdubbledee. The major cost is international flights. I am busy organising my wedding in Vegas and coordinating 18 people. Once in America travel is "relatively" cheap. The centralised con is a good idea, but my original concept of the "travelling con" is integrated into a documentary on the community and visiting where people actually live (or nearby). So it is to try and kill several goblins with one brick. The documentary is a record of the community that would be uploaded to the internet and copies could be part of the Kickstart campaign (like a $50 support level for instance). It makes for a more interesting insight into who the community is and where they are. The actual cost of 100 people travelling to a central venue is more than 2-3 people going to 10 places. Especially when incorporating costs of flights, hotels, etc. So when you consider those 2-3 people are crowd funded by the 100 it works out better, it would just need to be explained that way. 10 groups of 10 is a more intimate and interesting than 1 group of 100, everyone gets to meet everyone and spend some time together having a few beers, or in my case orange juices. However, I am sure the actual number is probably nearer 300 and quite possibly 500 people. I am also sure we can organise a host in each location for 2-3 people to stay in their house, bringing the costs WAY down. The type of meeting locations could be scout halls, church halls, basements, bars, community halls, prison cells, or even someone's living room It depends on numbers and having people on the ground in each location organising the leg of the event. So probably 2-3 days each in 10 locations. If a person of means wanted to follow the party part, or all of the way by road, rail or airplane they would be perfectly welcome to do so. In this scenario it is really 10 flights for 2-3 people plus 1 or 2 international return flights. Perfectly doable for under $15k Those who can't attend can follow the journey on the line, or receive the documentary or watch the documentary online when it is completed. I am pretty sure there would be some intresting footage of the personalities in this community

Well I'm on board. Your tiles look amazing. The moving diagrams is an excellent way to explain your point. Actually I've been making tiles using DMG's scale for a while now, and his 65mm squares are damn close to your 62.5mm squares. I have two scales. The 6.5cm classic gridless and 3inch for grid. The 3inch for grid allows for half inch walls and the grids line up perfectly.

Welcome. Check out the Facebook Table Top RPG One Shot Group for players online. Otherwise the best way to find people to play is NOT to tell them they are playing DnD. Tell them it is something else and keep the rulebook covers covered. Then once they have played a few sessions they will figure it out on their own, but by then it is already too late and they will have been subjugated

Fellow crafters, DMScotty, myself (TheDMG) and AJ have briefly discussed the loose idea of having a "CraftCon" in 2016. Due to the fact that many of you live all over the world, but a significant percentage live in the US and spread out all over the US this poses a bit of a problem. We are a small niche community, but friendships and collaboration are strong. There have been a few real world meet ups by individuals (which is great), but something more formal may be desired. That's what this post is about. How do we create a CraftCon that people can attend / be apart of and be as inclusive as possible? The idea is that DmScotty, myself and possibly AJ and even others tour the US for 1 month and end at GenCon in 2016 for a final meetup. Now bare with me, as this is still an idea and not a going concern at this point. We would travel to major points around the US for 1 month and possibly also the UK (for a week as it is much smaller). The "major points" would be areas where there are the greatest concentration of crafters and enthusiasts. So basically a whole bunch of mini cons leading up to GenCon 2016. A documentary would be shot of the entire thing and released online. Now we (DMScotty, TheDMG and AJ) do not have the funds to do this, so the idea is to create a KickStarter campaign to raise the money to do the tour, film the documentary and whatever else. At this point we have not even looked into costs involved, locations, timing, etc. What we would really like to know from the community are the following: - Is this a viable idea?
- What would you expect to see in the KickStarter campaign?
- Where is the closest major center to you (say no more than 3 hour drive) with an airport?
All comments are welcome.
Thanks DMG

Before investing any money you should test the limitations of your existing equipment. This will help you determine what it is worth investin in. I find people often spend money in the wrong areas. Try filming first with what you have. Use a desk lamp or a standing lamp for light. See what is possible before spending any money. Often times working within limitations yields better results. Also, once you define what those limitations are, you will know where your money is best spent.

Thank you for doing what you can. Like I said in the video if you want me to promote you in return, I will. If not, then that's fine. It is up to you.
