Hello all, I just joined today and am currently in the beginning stages of making some Large Rocks. I watched the video by DmScotty on you tube and became inspired. I am going to use these for table terrain in my Warmachine battles. As I get a chance I will post the finished product. I am a total beginner at making terrain. My hope is, as I progress, to start making some Dungeons as I am a longtime "old school" AD&D player. I look forward to feedback and any help I can get as I am just starting. (I am 44 yrs. old and I am all about my games). More to come as I get the ball rolling. Kas

Update: Here are some pics of my project in Progress. The project is coming along nicely. I am going to paint on some pva glue for texture next and then have some glue built up here and there around the rocks then I am going to put sand and some small pebbles or Kitty litter on the bases. I will paint these most likely next month as the paint I thought I had in the shed is gone. Grrrr. Oh well I will post more pics after I get the flocking done. Happy gaming, may dice roll true and may all your projects go smooth. Kas 1. Attachment Deleted 2. Attachment Deleted 3. Attachment Deleted

Try to avoid kitty litter. Since it is clay it tends to break off...looking forward to seeing the completed stones.

Welcome! Nice start on the crafting jumping in with the rocks.... They'll look great when done. Nice Eisenhorn avatar as well! You'll find many, if not all, of the techniques around here translate just as well for wargaming as for rpg's!!Good luck and look forward to seeing more!

I will chuck the litter. I will find some small pebbles or use some polystyrene. I am also going to get some construction sand at some point. Thanks for all the positive feedback and I am having fun doing the crafting.

'nother welcome! Good to see that there are still some ADND players out there. Most oldschoolers seem to ge even further back to ODND or some other obscure (for me) version of the rules. ADND was the system of the day when my friends and I stumbled over roleplaying,. back in 1998. We never changed to any other version of DND. And since I have hoarded collected almost everything from this edition, we have adventures and content that will last us the rest of our life, and then some reincarnations more. I've tried Scotty's rocks too ( posted here), and today started to do an 18x18 cm piece. If this turns our well, I can make them multiple terrain tiles to put side by side, creating a huge game field

Thanks for all the positive feedback and I am having fun doing the crafting. Actually I find some of the best aggragate is found at the bottom of my driveway after a decent rain storm. I just walk down scoop it up sift through it seperate the bigger pebbles into sizes. The rain washes out the earthier particles and viola! Good old fashion sand. Of course the fact that some of us are currently under some snow cover it would be hard now. Cheer up! Spring will come so stock up! Lol! There is always Parakeet grit that you can pick up from Wally World in the pet section for like a few sheckles (2 bucks). It is pretty fine but it works ok. I mix it in with my normal sand. Scenery is so much fun becuz its just trying replicate what you see outside the front door.

I flocked the bases today. I discovered a slight mistake as I only had based the rocks on a single piece pf cardboard each. Warpage. (I cried...well not really) So I glued some crisscrossing the original basing and that seemed to have taken the warp out. Then I got rocks and sand and based them. I thought that enough time had passed by so I shook some of the sand off. Well...sometime tomorrow I am going to touch that up and will prime them. I thought I took pics but apparently, (Stares at phone and thumbs), they were blurry as all can be. Oh well. Sorry this has taken so long but life has a way of just jumping out and foiling the fun plans. Also, I am in the process of cleaning out our shed so I can have an area to work other than the table I am on at the moment. A Man Cave. Kas. P.S. I see why everyone uses the hot glue. Aleene's tacky glue and Elmer's Glue all take forever to dry and start to tack up. So, the hot glue gun and ammo are in the pipeline. P.P.S. Thanks for all the advice and encouragement. I am so looking to getting these painted up and (clear) pics taken. I am very happy to have found this place.

Here they are primed up! I should get the first coat of paint on them today. I think they are going very well and I am looking forward to finishing them in the next few days. I have a bunch going on and I think I am doing this at a snails pace. When I get done, the key, I will have some cool terrain to use. Attachment Deleted Attachment Deleted Attachment Deleted

Hooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwddddddddddddddyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! Oops, wrong opera house! Anyhoo, I finally got that project done. Thanks for the patience and all the encouragement. I had a lot of things going on, everyday stuff, and I didn't set aside crafting time. But the time that I did set aside was great fun. I loved everything from the shaping of the wet paper towel, to seeing them take shape to the priming and the painting (a few mistakes got made but were fixed). I just flocked them with some old paint brush bristles, not painted as the color was great (for me) as is and some of the glue is still wet but they are done. I am so happy with the way they turned out and it has inspired me to make other things and I will post future projects as I do them. Oh yeah, you know there are pics of the finished project. Thanks again. Kas Attachment Deleted Attachment Deleted Attachment Deleted
