Right, so I was surfing some terrain making videos and they were mentioning DM Scotty and 2.5D crafting. I was curious. I am a GM running various systems but for the past decade or so I've been running a D&D 3.5 campaign. I had been looking around for some idea's to replace my current system of Hex Map with plate glass on top. I'm fairly sure many Game Masters can relate to describing the situation, pause the game to draw out the environment, resume, resolve the situation, erase the drawings and repeat. I am very pleased with DM Scotty's 2.5D idea and especially the very cost effective method of re-purposing cardboard and card stock. What I was REALLY impressed with is DM Scotty's use of the hot glue gun to make effects on terrain, the Water fountain video was brilliant. I rarely used a hot glue gun but now I'm keen to try my hand at it. I followed the link to the forum and signed up, tainting your lovely site with my verbosity. Simply dropping a post to say "hello" from the middle of Canada and I hope to glean some ideas from the membership.
Cheers.

When it comes to Crafting for table top games at low cost, there is not a better site on the web that I am aware of. Plus you have some very creative minds and excellent artists to get ideas from. One of my favorite sites...I cant get enough of this place!

Ow! AJ! That hurt (a lot)! Alright... Alright I take that part back! *sighs heavily* I think you forgot to craft the well you were trying to kick him into AJ. Let this be a lesson to all: if you are up againts millions of persians hefting silly wicker shields and led by a really tall half naked man wearing way to much piercing jewelry to walk around safely in anything but a loincloth, make sure you have sufficient craft materials to make the signature scenes for the campaign epic. Otherwise you end up kicking people around for no reason, and you don't have enough materials to craft hoplite shields to keep those arrows at bay. Craft in the shade my friends...

Hi all! I found DM Scotty's Youtube channel a few weeks ago and I think I have a problem. I am completely hooked on crafting now. I just got the Red Box for my son for Xmas and he and I started playing (I started playing in 1980 and just got started again a couple of years ago). Well now I have done about 80 tiles in the genius 2.5D style and am cranking out terrain for them at a furious pace. Running games is so much more fun now. I have a regular Friday night game with my son and some of his friends and a Sunday night adult game. Both 4e.
Having a great time. Thanks to DM Scotty, DMG and terrainaholic for the terrific ideas. I will start posting some pics of my crafts this weekend. It is great to be a part of such a fantastic community!
