Happy last day of 2013, everyone! After having watched what seems like every DM's Craft and DMG video there are, I've decided to start building up a modular set, with the idea of adding in special pieces for specific adventures when needed. I have a handful of Fat Dragon Games' 2D tiles that I mounted on foam board, and they're nice and all, but I've found them too restricting with room sizes and layouts and whatnot. I generally just use a Chessex Megamat, but here recently I've been starting to really get into painting my minis, so now the battle mat is starting to look very bland. Thanks to Scotty and Gareth, my bland game table is soon to be a thing of the past! I've taken bits and pieces from both, added my own ideas (like using foam board instead of cardboard), and here are my first few tiles that I slapped together last night: I have some Hirst Arts doors on the way that I ordered from eBay that are on the way too, so that'll help with the look.

Your tiles are superb, and the figures look great on them. Your players are going to love the new look. Beautiful work. Cheers!

Thanks all! Also, I figured I'd post this in case anyone finds it helpful: Since I'm using foam board instead of cardboard, I figured out how many 6cm squares I could fit on a 20"x30" board, then made these template sheets for which pieces to make for a modulate starter kit (based on what DMG shows in his vid). The excess bits from the edges are perfect for cutting into 1cm strips to make the walls with. Here are my templates: imgur.com/a/Zakdf#0
