Ahoy ladies and lads, I've been watching the epic show Black Sails lately and I'm hooked. It cause me to revisit an old build and make modifications to it. Adding new masts, sails, and a ton of details around the deck! Yes, I cheat and use Hirst Arts molds, but they just kick so much ass if you have access to them! I had previously made this little boat (I say little but this thing is massive - about 13" tall, 15" long, and 5" wide) that is perfect for my tabletop scenarios and rpg sessions. The boat itself is foam (XPS and foamcore innards to be precise), a whole buncha wood, and a whole lotta time! The sails were made from an old t-shirt that I soaked in matte mod podge to stiffen, then dry brushed with various browns to give a dirty appearance. A technique I will definitely be employing again. Enjoy! I'm very much open to questions, comments, and constructive criticism on this build! Tell me what ya think mateys! YARRR!!!

I read about a DM who gave a sailing ship to his player's PC's. They sailed it from port to port, and adventure to adventure. They used it as their base of operations. I've been thinking on it ever since I read it. I love the concept, and the idea. What a fantastic means to travel my game world, encountering so many different cultures and ports of call. Not to mention the opportunities for seaborn adventures! Enjoy! Cheers!

Not to mention the opportunities for seaborn adventures! Enjoy! Cheers! I really like that idea! In this case they were being ferried by the Pirate Captain Kaptan (emphasis on the TAN) from their homeland fleeing an evil witch, swearing a vow to avenge their fallen kin and kind. After crazy adventures, they found out the witch has been trying to bring about the apocalypse for the mortal realm and usher in a new age of devils and demons, employing her underlings to open gateways to different layers of the Nine Hells through the use of crystals. Each with a property of the hell layer it's attached to. The first crystal belonged to the 8th layer of Baator, Cania. The second belonged to Stygia, which is where they have been for the last few sessions. It is my plan to turn Kaptan's ship into a spelljammer and have them travel the planes with a benevolent pirate captain!

Paizo came out with a Pathfinder Adventure Path called, Skulls & Shackles. Pirate campaign path and even if you don't want to play Pathfinder, it gives enough inspiration for a ship based campaign!
