I'm a sucker for ships!
I like the implied grid pattern you did on the decks, and your clothes pin ballista!

Whoa!... Love the three decks representation technique! You might want to invest in a copy of Seas of Blood, from Mongoose Games -- OOP, but available used, possibly in PDF, from RPGNow.com. It features fantasy ships, for several main races, with top-down floor plans ( Elves, Ships of War, Ships of the Goblinoids. I have talked about running a ship-based campaign, but one player is adamantly against it. I have another player who runs a sea god priest: he can shape-shift into a few forms of sea mammals (dolphin up to orca, depending upon level). Read about using a ship as the PC's base/home, traveling from port to port, keeping their ship as their traveling home, where they store their treasure. That is the only way I could see building up a ship model, such as your's -- only way to get enough use out of it to justify building it! Still hoping I can convince the player to give it a try... Other option for a semi-water-based campaign I read about, is to have a city of islands, sort of like Venice. Large group of small islands which are dry land, close together, but with water everywhere around, allowing interaction with water species, as desired, boats everywhere, to hop from island city block, to island city block. I would love to run such a hybrid campaign setting... Cheers!

erho , I've been playing since 1980. I have had, and continue to have, "great campaign ideas", most of which never see the light of the gaming table... Still, I continue to dream -- that is, after all, what gaming is all about. Thanks for the vote of confidence. I know many like to game by post, or Skype, but I need to be face-to-face. I am an improvisational GM, and that does not work, for me, other than face-to-face. Besides that, I command a serious commitment from my players in developing their characters, over time. That kind of investment from them, only comes when they see my commitment to them, and their characters. I can only give that level of commitment, to face-to-face players. I only run one campaign. I tried running two, with separate player groups, years ago, but it was too hard to shift gears, and keep track of each PC, in each group -- each group was radically different from the other, which really required a major paradigm shift to GM. Cheers!
