Update: I JUST NOW figured out how to embed images. Ok, first a caveat- I am doing everything at the 15mm scale, about half of the "normal" rpg scale. Its a weird roundabout story but 15mm was the motivating factor for me getting back into painting and crafting. I'm in the process of Ebaying off my old 25-28mm collection. FIRST: Here's a "goblin hive" set of cliffs. This is new as of yesterday, and it only has a basecoat so far. I plan on using this for alien cliffs as well. (I really hope this works, btw, I am not having an easy time with embedding. I'll edit in links if nothing else works) This picture guest stars a few cyborg servitors. They can hide in the little caves, stand on ledges. At 15mm you get a lot of real estate. Next up is a teleport gate. This is something I made up for my Laserburn/Spaceport Scum campaign. Inside is our hero, Jaxon Rand. Captain of the GYRFALKON. These are some light posts I made out of wooden dowels and some castoff gear thingies, a couple of soda-bottle caps plus glass beads. They are sorta post industrial.. thingies. And my other hero Helm Corusan is checking things out. (it was all clear). He's like.. 2nd in command. Here we have a scratch-built APC/Mining vehicle. Its made out of craft boxes. Security Officer Shayla is also on the scene. Here's a closer view with the dome-cockpit. Its a little cruddy but I think it looks ok at the scale it is. Also shown, Shaylas partner Orrin. So the story is.. they run an independent mining operation. Land on a planet, mine away (I know it looks like a tank, but that's a mining vehicle!) and have adventures.

Ok, here's more: This is the Skimmer. Our two scientists are on it checking things out. I should probably paint that windshield. I just outlined it in ballpoint pen. This one is also made of craft boxes, and the number "4" - I got some pressboards that show 4, like you might put up an address sign with, and made them into wings. Its being guarded by a couple of insectoid bad guys for some reason. And here's our main ship, GYRFALKON. It's done in a quasi 2.5d style. The top deck lifts off to show the cargo deck below. Slightly not to scale, because in my game, both the Skimmer and the mining vehicle can ride aboard the cargo, but obviously it doesn't all fit when the top deck is on. I have to use my imagination for that. I have some command consoles and computer gear and stuff to install but it isn't painted yet. So for right now, just some groovy blue lounge furniture. Some closeups. This is an alien diplomat that is travelling with us. And there's Orrin again.

Some final pics: This is a pretty simple laser turret thingy, sitting on the landing pad that the Skimmer was on earlier. Its being attended by some fox-men. I just kinda wanted to show off my foxy guys here I guess. Here's the fox leader. He looks kinda like my girlfriends dog.

That's some neat stuff ya got there. I'm not a fan of square bases but biases aside I like the scale & I've been interested in a space game eventually if our group ever gets together again.

Back in the 1980's, I played the original, black box, and three small paper booklets version, of Traveller, the grand-daddy of all SF RPG's. I would have had sooo much fun building 2.5D space ship models, if DM Scotty had been around back in the day, with his crafting techniques...
Your ship model is very good. It stirs up the old memories! I bought a bunch of Traveller stuff, NOS Judges Guild materials, around a decade ago, but never pursued it. Still too much to jump into, as a GM, trying to run the game. You don't make up a game world, you make up a game universe!!! Too daunting for me. Got some good memories of Traveller, though. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

Yeah, I remember Traveller like sgtslag, also played the black box. I still have a lot of my original books, High Guard, Scouts, Striker, then the bigger books, like Solomani. Brings back memories.
We used to draw up ship plans that we made using graph paper. The biggest use of Algebra and Geometry I've ever done in my life!
In fact I have a medium sized tackle box of Traveller minis, they're 15mm as well. None of them are painted, never got around to doing that.
Good looking builds!

I did a bunch of sketches a couple of years ago for Spelljammer ships I had, one of which was shaped like a bumble-bee. I wonder if it's possible to find a big plastic bee model and install some decks...

How about building it out of papier mache'? You will need to locate a ribbed form, to apply the mache' to, but at least you have a kernel of an idea to build upon. Chop-chop! This should not take more than a few hours. We are all waiting, most impatiently, I might add... Cheers!
