Hello everyone, been awhile since I posted last, I hope everyone is well I thought some of you would like to havalooksee at what I've been up to So, just for a little background on this piece, it all started when I decided that I was going to employ some new techniques in my builds... ie static grass, and more realistic ground cover, and a more realistic look to the overall terrain piece. Soooooooooooooo... I have been building an outpost or "Last Stand" type of complex for a post apocalyptic zombie infested world. This build is to better highlight some of my post apocalyptic vehicles that I have been building, for a world I am currently creating. So, with this Last Stand complex I am currently building, about 3/4 of the way finished, I didnt want to "F" it up, so I decided to build a practice piece which turned into the Ambush at Fallen Stones Pass. Here's a piccie of the complex and it's current state... So once again, the only reason I created this other Ambush piece was for practice on doing ground cover...here's what it turned out like these piccies are in build order, and the war wagon has been a work in progress now for over two years. It is completely modular. It can be a one wagon piece, a two wagon piece, it can accommodate two horses or adjust for four horses. It can be for cargo, covered wagon, a prisoner transport cage, a catapult, or a dragon ballista. This is how the build started Used a soda bottle's middle section to create the covered part of the wagon, which also became the main support piece Here it is covered in fabric

Lovely scenery! I particularly like the way you used the soda bottle piece to form the wagon cover.

Good to see you still here posting Funny...I was at a stand still on the wagon project that I had started, couldn't come up with a viable means to create the canopy of the wagon until I saw the crafters guild video on soda bottles So super big thanks go out to theDMG and to DMScotty and to Wylock and to Jeremy from Black Magic Craft...thx guys

I agree, the soda bottle is a great idea for creating the covered wagon!

Looks more like a diorama, as opposed to a table-top encounter scene... Very impressive, indeed. Cheers!

I agree, the soda bottle is a great idea for creating the covered wagon! Thank you sir, I was "hung up" on a good way to build that for a long time. It had to be removable, easiliy with out great effort, and strong So after watching the video by DMG it kinda hit me in head like a 50lb hard thing

Not so much a diorama, but more like a drop on the table encounter. You know like when traveling to and fro. Plus it makes a good display piece for the war wagon when completely assembled. and it all started when I was trying to practice my ground cover techniques

I was just tryin to get some skills together for this other piece that I'm building, but I was thinking that it would make a great drop in encounter when traveling to and fro... took me three days of looking before I finally found a rock formation suitable for the background in these pics

Where did you get the wagon wheels from? Those are the pieces that I've found the hardest to find to make things with.

I'm 99% sure they are LEGO.
I have several I tried to cast, unsuccessfully

Just saw a video on YouTube, yesterday, where a gal was using 2-part silicone to make molds with. Her masters were flat-backed, but she made decent molds of them. She put the molds in the refrigerator to eliminate the bubbles, after she purposely introduced numerous bubbles, to demonstrate how effective the refrigerator was! Curing time for the silicone she used, was several hours. Anyway, don't know if that will help in casting the wheels, or not. If you don't mind their backside's being flat, it could work. Cheers!
