This is a article on my 2017 submission for the paintjob show off, please enjoy Dagnir 5th lvl elf ranger Custom mini from heroforge.com one of our players ordered. It's a cool site where you can configure any type of mini, anyway check it out! There's all sorts of accounts on painting experiences with these prints, I hope I can help out those who ever wondered. He ordered ultra detail plastic, it looks great but it does have print lines throughout. More noticeable on flat areas, feet and edges. It's subtle, but if you use washes and shades, keep it in mind. Primed it black and hot it with Folkart brand green. The finer print lines were smoothed out with the primer and base coats, but they remained prominent on edges and boots. Base colors before shading Homemade black shade/dip... just thin black down and put a brush full of dishwasher liquid soap in. . Notice the boots... I hope the pic shows you proper detail... you can see the print lines grain thanks to the shade. Almost like wood, I think it's clever idea to camo your ranger boots. Thanks 3D printers! Touch up on base colors. I mixed up some brown and grey into the green for the cape for a change in palette. GW retribution gold and Reichland fleshshade glazed all over. Highlighted the cloak with previous mix and progressively more green. After a highlight in the original "Old Ivy Green", silver/gold mix highlights, etc. he's pretty much done! Thanks for your time!

I have not been impressed by Hero Forges pieces other than the outrageous prices they demand. The Ranger looks like a pretty nice piece. Your brushwork & choice of color are BEAUTIFUL. VERY WELL DONE!
