Next game will be a little sooner than expected, and I lost half the weekend to to a social obligation I had forgotten about - time for a speed build In a speedbuild it's very important to draw up a blue print with exact measurements: ...or you could just randomly doodle something for later re-interpretation. Had a bunch of EVA foam camping floor tiles laying about and decided to give them a go for terrain ( because when your pressed for time is the bestest time to try new materials ) Planning out where everything goes The platforms are starting to take shape Trying to get a water like texture with some texture paste I found in the painting section, not really giving much of texture tbh - though it seems to do the job of priming. Apparently I felt I was doing so well on time that I needed to spruce the scene up with a portal complete with a hidden red flicker led to (hopefully) animate the painted portal a bit. Still missing : - Carving and texturing the other bridge
- two flimsier bridges on either side of the big one
- water drop beneth those two bridges
- Alter and sundry decor
- painting
Getting it done in time is going to be a challenge tbh - weekdays i can usually only spare 1-2 hours per night. not sure how to paint the sewage/wastewater - there aren't a lot of reference photos for that, I may end up doing brow with green dry brushing for highlights. Any better ideas? (pictures/videos would be very handy!)

The brown and green should look good, with possibly yellow. A company that used to do cardstock terrain called World Works Games had a sewer set that I thought had a good color to it. Below is one of the promotional images from the set. The lower part of the image has the one of the colors you could use for the sewers. Also, looking at the image, I see there's a piece from the green colored sewer flow right below the set logo.

Depends on the story that goes with your sewer, I suppose. From what I have seen, the color of real sewer effluent is brown, even if it's just storm water run-off. Making it a bit greenish does give a more interesting visual effect, though.

Doing a bit of detailing with on the walls - here is an extreme close up, the floor squares are 25mm ( 1" ) Was gonna do the two secondary bridges aswell - but I managed to dull my last box cutter blade cutting away foam for the rapids, so had to settle for drowning the rapids in hotglue and crafting up a alter and some boards from the resulting foam scraps that the minions can use for cover. was gonna have the bridge closest to the portal removable so the BBG could collapse it ( replacing it with a rubble version ) to hinder the heroes advance, but I had to glue it in place because the continued manipulation threatened to destroy the arches below it - maybe if I have some extra time I'll revisit the idea

Getting a bit more confident that I will complete it by saturday as last nigth was very productive; The two side bridges aren't glued in place yet to make it easier to paint the water I even had time to carefully cut the the glue of the large bridge so I could remove it and dry fit it's rubble version - still not 100% satisfied with that one I may have to go ham on it with a box cutter once the paste dries. I really wanted the guard rails to look like wrought with intricate scroll work - but given the scale I don't see that happening. Anybody have any tips on how to paint to give it that wrought iron look at this scale? googling for "painting wrought iron" is not very helpfull unless you want to learn how to pain ontop of actual wrought iron ^_^

My mother's wrought -iron gate was painted green because that's the way she liked it. More often, they are painted black or white - the paint protects the surface from rusting. But assuming that your sewer probably has unpainted wrought iron that has rusted, you could try searching for "painting rust on miniatures". The ones I looked at quickly all went for a heavily-rusted effect, so they ended up mostly rust and little or no unweathered iron. You might want to dial it back a bit and just have gray-black iron with scattered rust. Just google "rusted wrought iron railing" to see the patterns of the rusting.

Destroyed version of the bridge done - just need to wait for the modeling paste drying before I can paint it Phone has a hard time coping with the contrast and seems to be crushing the whites and blacks both - I've tried doing litlle splashes with the paste, hopefully they show up better once painted. Most of the scene got a base coat - and I experimented a bit with the water. The flat bits looks good, I'm kinda regretting the hotglue bits ( but they looked so good in wylocks sever tile video xD ), still they will be mostly covered. The pipes will be repainted the bronzed look just doesn't work for me, the floors have been hit with a rather heavy handed dry brush of various greys which doesn't show at all on the picture - the low dynamic range of my phone strikes again. ...And looking at the picture I realize I forgot to paint the inside of the portal.

It's looking good! I think the palette of browns you chose for the sewer works really well.

It's looking good! I think the palette of browns you chose for the sewer works really well. Thanks it's a burnt umber base with the streaks beign burnt sienna with yellow ocre wetblended into the middle. Went nuts with the rusted look The front rail isn't that red it's an artifact of bad ligthing, I'll try and get some daylight shots of the finished product. Portal painted up + a bit of rope for when one of my players inevitably falls into the "drink" Close up of the rusted drain pipes Destoyed version of the bridge I accidentally ended up making it's water look like bronze so I'll have to repaint that All that's left now is adding patina and mold/algea ( that green stuff that seems to crop up everywhere that's wet alot ) Also need to craft up the braziers burning the wolfsbane that's keeping the werewolf in it's hybrid form - I had hoped to use flicker leds for those but I may not have time. tomorrow properly going to be the last day of crafting so cutting it close

A superb build, and the broken bridge idea worked out perfectly!
