So, I'm about done with my general dungeon wares (80 tiles, tables, chairs, doors, etc) and now I'm turning my focus to basing my miniatures.
I come from a heroclix background, falling out of love with the game (became too MTG with cheap ultra rare pieces that imbalance the game and whiny play group). Anyways, I have hundreds of figures suitable for D&D.. scale doesn't bother me much AND if I'm using only Hclix or Mage Knight figures won't be too much of an issue.
I have adequate skill in removing them from their bases, as I've modded plenty of heroclix figures.. now I just need to acquire D&D appropriate bases.
Flocking bases has never really caught my eye, to me it seems silly when they could be in a sewer on a base with sand and grass. Anyhow, I really dig the clear base look for those same reasons. They could easily blend into the tile and not detract from the game.
My question is, where is the best place to order these? What dimensions do you suggest for normal D&D scale (medium, small, large, etc)? Scoring both the base and feet with super glue should do the trick, right?
Thanks in advance for any insight!!

I have recently started using clear bases, this post periodicpainting.blogspot.co.uk/2016/04/completed-zombies-and-new-basing.html shows some of tehm, and explains my reasoning behind the choice. i get mine off eBay; there are several suppliers there and I recently found one doing larger bases (80mm). I tend to stick to the D&D minis standard, 1"/25mm for a human or similar figure and so on. In some cases I have had to use square bases (Reaper orcs and bugbears are a particular, well, bugbear of mine), but it all seems to be working fine. A few points to bear in mind. superglue can easily fog the plastic, so careful application is advised. I pin large minis just to be sure. The bases do get dirty over time, and the acrylic seems to attract dust (static effect) so I use those wipes sold for cleaning lenses when necessary. Hope this is helpful.

Yeah, be careful with superglue due to the fogging issue it can have. If it happens you can normally fix it (if it's surface fogging anyway) with a layer of gloss varnish.
However, the best option for gluing the minis on to the base is to pin and use the clear dry tacky glue on the part of the pin put into the base.
