So, I am getting into crafting, because I am my groups DM in Dungeons and Dragons. We have used the mat for some time, but my players are getting, clearly, bored. We all agreed that walls and stuff would make it super awesome! So what supplies, aterials, and other things like that do I need to get started?? Please help...

Depends (I hate to say that) If you are going with the a mat then D&D Next would be a great place to start. If your going tiles then your going to have to choose your own path and there are a few to choose from

Card board, Foam board, scissors, xacto knife, pencils, ruler, glue gun, glue sticks for the glue gun.
you are set. nothing else. just pen and rules those measurements and you should be good to go. thats not even a need a to actually paint the stuff. just get those gears up. then once you are ready to paint the perfect stuff you did...
tons of black acrylic paint. a ton of white paint. a few other colors. mostly these nine.
dark green, green, light green dark brown, brown, light brown dark grey, grey, light grey
and just sponge/brush the shit out of your stuff.
PS tutorials on the net mostly from DMG and DM scotty are sold separately. 8)
seriously, just become a 10 year old again and you should build stuff out of this world.

Check out DM Scott and TheDMG's videos...and be inspired.
2.5D is one of the cheapest and easiest ways to start...also, getting bored using the battlements may be due to grid-lock...that is, try gridless play.
For the 2.5D method of crafting, you need cardboard, a box cutter, and the ability to create a rectangle or other polygonal shape. Cut it out, slap on some walls (protip...ALWAYS have wall strips cut out before you start making a tile), and paint it.
Easy peasy.
For grilles play, you need a stick. Well...a straight dowel rather. Mark 1 inch marks on it, and check out grilles play to make your game less blocky and more fun (well unless you consider grids fun).
The more you craft the better you get. Experience improves your craft, so craft alot, and remember, there is no "wrong way"
And always have fun!

onethatwas... unfortunately tiles pushes you easily into gridded territory due to the nature of the scale and the kinda grid that you do to make them. so in the end playing gridless is harder because of it. bt that is exactly why DMScotty actually turned to other methods instead.
tilescape for instance is much harder to look at it as a grid. while some tiles may have a grid, it shows much less on the field and thus makes the system much friendly toward gridless. same with 2.5D Next which is entirely truly gridless. this is also why i have turned to tilescape instead. mostly because of spaces that it doesn'T use. but also because its much better at giving your players a great time in a gridless environment.
dragondm, go ahead show us pictures man !!!
