So, I think mayhaps some of you have watched the movie Soloman Kane? If not, these are some shots that inspired me...
So I set out on a build a room full of Doom Mirrors, muhahaha
Get some of those elliptical woodsies at the craft store some dowel rods, and some wire, and some mirrored mylar, and some twine...lol believe it or not this is all stuff I just have within reach...ha ha (how do you know iif you craft too much?)
Ok here's how I did it pretty quick and easy, just repetitive
I used wood glue...I'm sure hot glue would be fine
Just wrap little loops with the wire and a dowel rod
Snip your wire off to desired length
get you a stack of these jammies...
Cut your dowels
Slide your jammies over the dowel ends...legs
If ya got some of these layin 'round...might wanna cover the wires with them, I used hot glue here
hold'em up, mark'em...then cut them down...
this where you add the mirrored mylar, in tiny bits, if you plan to outline mirrors in twine the way I chose to, this part doesn't need to be cut perfect
I just made a tiny stencil out of cardstock, cut it out then traced it on to mylar, then cut it with scissors and glued with glue stick
A couple tiny chains added some paint up...
I would dunk twine in small lengths into pvc glue wring it out a bit, then wrap the edge up
Now that's the "pretty set" as was suggested my my gf
Haven't quite yet got the look I want for the older darker ones, such as in the movie.
I'm thinking tiny strips of paper mache, not quite sure
Any thoughts on this?

This looks super cool. Wil you make a mirror with a monster coming out of it?

very similar to DMG method of creating a mirror.
they are looking real nice. can't wait to see the madness that you'll come up with the next mirror.

...and thx for the comment, still trying to figure out how to do the "dark" mirrors, I'll post pics when I finish them.

i dont think you can easily make dark mirrors. looking at DMG videos the only thing i can think of is to paint numerous very wet black layers on it. as to shade it blacker and blacker. and maybe some varnish to make it shiny again if it becomes too dark and dull.

Actually what I meant to say is "evil" looking, not actually painted dark, and I plan on creating a monster exiting the mirrors also, kinda pushing through the fabric of space/time plasti-coat maybe not sure

hard to make a shiny mirror look evil. in the movie its all about the lighting, the only reason they look so grim is because there is next to no lighting and the mirrors reflect the dark environment. and those mirrors looks creepy as a result. doing that in a tiles where lighting is next to impossible to emulate. its gonna be real hard for you to make it look evil. thats what im saying. of course monster from mirror is fine and can't wait to see that one.
but i think you can't redo the thing int he movie without having a pre set room specifically designed for it and specifically having mirrors set for that room.

HA, HAAAAAAAAAA " I can do it " LOL challenge accepted
I think maybe some black chrome paint should create the effect I'm going for...I'll post'em when I fin'nie them
(btw, I just thought of that...)
then, let me know what you think
