P1010057Bought a Bag-o-Kniggets for statuary and to attempt some occupational therapy on my fine motor skills (double size minis seemed easier). These guys are "Guardian Knights" from a company called Toysmith. They seem to be ubiquitous at online toy retailers. Raw umber under robin's egg blue under sea foam green gives a decent verdigris effect. It also importantly adds some not-grey to the dungeon palette. They'd work just fine in a stonework color scheme. Modern style army men might be interesting just for the questions they'd raise. P1010056I did one of each pose in the bag just for variety. The plinths are Tropicana juice lids, which seem to be pretty popular around here. They're also large enough that mounted statuary would probably fit too.

Those knights are kind of junky, but boy, do they have alot of charm. I'd much rather have them than just about any of the Reaper Bones (I just sold all my Bones in fact). I can put my money where my mouth is.

The Toobs suggestion is a good way to go. They also have cavalry and spearmen available.
Don't forget about old trophy toppers; they are pretty much the definition of statuesque.

I like the look, however, for the minis, the bases might be a little bit to large for the "statue" on them

The plinths aren't attached. I just had them handy for pictures. Tropicana makes a smaller juice lid that would probably work. So would sculpting bases, but when I painted these my motor skills were at a point where I dropped each of them several times (I still unpredictably drop stuff if I'm not looking at my hands), so new bases were out of the question.
