I really like the look of the bark. Lots of texture. How do you seal the bark? The cyclops I was referring to was the short mushroom one in the background.

I give the bark a thorough spray with Krylon Workable Fixative...it kills any little critters inhabiting the wood as well as prepping it for painting. You must mean the Guy on the left: I know I have other photos of him, but where. I should be digging that board out again soon. Then I'll take another pic of him & let you know it's up. Right now I have three small boards started: a spooky woods, urban street, & either a cavern or a sewer. They will be photo backgrounds with foreshortened trees/ buildings/whatever. The street will also act as a connecting piece between urban boards. ...these are back pieces waiting for the glue to dry: ... AND the spooky woods. The Moon I got from our own Matakishi will be in the upper right corner. I'd like to make it so I could swap out the two faces of The Moon: ...more later..or not.

The board for the sewer/dungeon is now destined to be a Mushroom Forest background. I started making the caps from florist foam balls & semi-spheres: Next, the caps were attached to the backdrop, & stems added: That should give you a vague idea where this is going. I'll get it ready for painting, do some groundwork, AND creepy the place out... creepy is my thing.

It is always good to have one's talents recognized...such as they are. After a couple of days of down time, my PhotoBucket is accessible once more..for the moment. SO this is where the Mushroom Forest photo stage stands: ...the Lead (middle ground) Mushroom: ...with hints of creepy (you were expecting fluffy bunnies?) things to come: ...further developments will be posted today...maybe. "How To" info free for the asking.

Great stuff, as always! And a 'how to' would be cool! Thanks for the reply, Daniel. I am happy you like it thus far. I will be doing more of these, so a "How To" should be easy to do.

This how things stood at the end of the yesterday. The first of the faces appeared: ...these will blend in with the background gloom except for the glowing eyes: ... AND the Twisty Mushrooms got some attention as well: ...seen here with his larger associate: ...more later...or not.

Looking good. like the step by step a lot. Think its pretty ironic that your 'green men' are made with green stuff.

SO after some down time I have done a little work on the Mushroom background board: The faces were gently removed for later use elsewhere. A Mushroom & some additional floating eyes were added: ...the free standing background Mushrooms are now primed/base coated: AND the Fey Faerie Wizard has finally been given a base & base coated: ...he may soon see some color...or not.

The Mushroom Forest has started to get colorful: ...the background Mushrooms are also getting attention: ...& the Fey Faerie Wizard's base is in the works as well: ...I'm hoping to get the Photo Board done before next weekend; re the Alley/Street Scene Board is becoming irresistible...sort of.

Old Glory has a limited supply left: www.oldglory25s.com/view_product.php?product=DW-700The other two wizards in the pack are pretty cool. The Sorceress is the mini I used for the Fey Faerie Sorceress. The other wizard wound up being a Dog's of War Paymaster...present location unknown.

Love it, especially the Thing. Now if you only had a Tentacle Maker,... ...you could swap the smooth tentacles with segmented ones...

Great stuff, as usual deafnala!
The colours are really bringing the back drop together, and I'm always impressed by your characterful sculpts. Looking forward to seeing the mushroom board progressing, and the others!

Looking forward to seeing the mushroom board progressing, and the others! Thanks for the reply, woof. I am delighted you like my stuff...especially the colors. Since I dropped in to post the finished board, I won't keep you waiting for this one. SO sometime Friday I finished up the Mushroom Forest background piece. Photos were taken yesterday. AND today I shall show you the results...such as they are: ...The Thing in the Puddle: ...since the thing was made to be the background for miniature photos, I got some volunteers to pose in the setting. Wilhelm Von Shakespeare & Herald: AND The Mushroom Adventuring Consortium: I did pick up a few ideas of things to do & not to do in the next background boards, but I think I will have some fun with this one as it is.
