So I picked up a couple of my wife's contact lenses that had been left out overnight. They had dried out and broke apart when I grabbed them, and looked just like a broken glass. I had the idea of using the pieces on bases for miniatures. Has anyone else ever done this? Just curious.
Regards,
Sean

Sounds neat, I'd like to see them used. However would be a bit expensive intentionally using that.

Use broken glass for broken glass. That will teach people to pick up your minis!

I know that it is an expensive thing to use, but she is throwing them away all of the time, maybe I will have to start storing them all and mashing them up. I know you would need a large amount to do big projects, but for a couple of bases that would work just fine I think.

My g/f and a few of my friends would kill me for suggesting the herpes of crafting... yes glitter. Be a cheaper effect. Yeah have to agree that if you have the dried up accident it would be good to use. I know the script contacts are fairly expensive $50+. The theatrical ones I am getting in the mail are in the $25 price range. I know it depends on where the creek is and what region of the country you are in.... but some of the creeks around here have mica (looks liek it but I am no geologist) fragments in them. They are paper thin chunks. Next time I am fishing I will have to look for some. LOL for an evil effect (not sure how it would hold up to play) glue the dried out contact lens to a floor or wall and paint it like an eyeball

Ah yes, the herpes of craft...lol My wife actually currently works at a craft store. I regularly go in with her to get things and am always looking at various materials that are gaming related.

or for a better option , that you can craft to your liking , use crystal clear shrinky dinks . you can cut them to the size and any shape you want , andcan even color them using permanent markers before you bakethem if you need stained glass like from a church window .

Gf said that you can try to save the lenses by putting them back in the case and soak them in the solution for a few days.

I've never tried it, but lately I've been tossing around the idea in the back of my mind that finely cut up bits of a clear plastic blister pack or some coarse/fine table salt for the really tiny bits of crushed glass.
I'm gonna have to experiment with it now.

Salt is a good idea, as are all of the other ideas that have been suggested.

That is hilarious but very apt! That crap is like luggage you can never get rid of it! It gets everywhere!

My g/f says something to the effect of that you can use it once on a small project and you're still cleaning up glitter six years later and finding remnants of it six years after that.

I did some treasure piles about a year and a half ago and I still am finding glitter!
