So I recently completed my first completely customized, gridless, 3-dimensional encounter. I was super happy with how it turned out and my PC's really loved how it played.
The Lost Keep of Diremoor: A crumbling keep lost in a marsh that was a once beautiful and verdant plain. A long-coming battle between the Diremoor family and the Ravencroft family lead to a climatic battle between the families forces at the steps of the keep. Leaving much bloodshed and tears behind the undecided victor of the battle left the Keep and the spoils and moved on to take new territories. Over the years the Keep and the plains were claimed by nature and left many restless spirits behind to haunt and plague the marsh and the long lost Keep.
The PC's were introduced to the encounter by an NPC named Mr. Bones, a tall shadowy man with a large black leather patch covering most of his face, who operates a small ferry at the mouth of a thin river. After two days time the PC's are dropped off at a half sunken wharf deep in a fog covered marsh.

If anyone wants to know the details about how I ran the encounter just ask! Just wanted to get something posted for now!
Lemme know what you think!

Its a reaper mimic. I was gonna make one, but it was a last minute call the morning I was bringing it to the table. Turned out pretty good for being a 20 minute paintjob. The lack of basing it properly bummed me out but meh, ill get to it. Thank you for the kind words! Look forward for more from me!

That's the hot ticket question it seems to me. For the overall construction of all the structural elements I only used two 10 x .5 inch gluesticks. But for the marsh's water effects... 22 of the same gluesticks. But I have a wide angled tip for my glue gun, so I used less than I actually thought I was going to. I was going to use the plastimelt water pellets and pour the water texture on, but i figured it would be a mess and was a lot more pricey than the $3 gluesticks.
