When I moved from the Old Homestead on Long Island to the Wild's of Horseshoe bay here in Texas, I made a change in my modeling/painting as well as my location. I started on what I've termed my Last Hurrah project, which is an attempt to take all those little things I've come to love about fantasy, steam punk, cartoons, et al & do my own twist on them. Thus far I have a few boards to the "only a tweak here or there" stage & a few more underway with plans for some 2.5D additions...now that I've discovered that method. All that aside, Heep's Bat Poop Farm & Mushroom Distillery/Tavern along with the Spooky Woods were the first boards approach completion...there IS always something to add to terrain which makes a like of a "completed" piece. SO without further ado, here for your entertainment & edification is Heep's Place: The long view. An additional chimney was added after this photo which will show up in the Spooky Woods photos (to be posted later): ...Passing by the Doorman(?): ...& up the ladder: ...we met the ever jovial if somewhat pungent Compo Heep Himself by the front door of his place: with some of his Associates: & up to the terrace: & roof: AND the Mushroom Caves: I'll continue the Grand Tour with a separate post; re, I don't know how many truly mediocre photo one post can contain without imploding...could be fun to find out.

As threatened, the Tour continues with Compo taking us through a section of the Woods to the famed Bat Poop Caves: ...the entrance to the caves: & a top the entrance: AND a side view with a section of the Spooky Woods...our next destination: SO until next time feel free to comment...or not.

Fantastic work man! I feel like I'm looking at those psychedelic posters with all the mushrooms and gnomes on them. How did you go about making the shroomies?

noctuary: Thanks. I have reason to believe that I'm actually stuck in some time warp in the '60s, but then I have a lot of strange thoughts. I have a mini how-to posted somewhere that I'll dig up for you on the Mushrooms. In the interim: I make a cone or a flatten sphere of Plumber's Epoxy Putty (very similar to Milliput) for the cap; drill holes for the eyes & insert jewelry seed beads (2mm to 6mm). Then I sculpt the stem out of Green Stuff followed, once it's dry, by the face & the the back & top tip (as opposed to tip top). If I cant' find the how-to, I'll do another just for you & the forum. Alexis: Thanks for the kind reply. I'm delighted you like the colors; I do tend to go for vivid shades. It adds to the surreal look of my creations & I like bright colors...could be yet another sign of imminent senility.

Howdy, We demand tutorials! This stuff is boss. Karma in advance, Kev! Sounds like a reasonable request. I'm working on some more Mushroom & Flower Folk anyway; SO I'll see if my Camera of Continuous Contrariness will cooperate for some W.I.P. photos. It might take a day or so to get to it.

This is awesome! I've seen those missing tutorials. The one about making faces in walls is what first inspired me to sculpt. .

Thanks MUCHO for all the replies. Doing tutorials for the various types of Mushrooms would be an excellent excuse for making more of them...excuses are SUCH useful things. I might even be able to come up with some new ones. There are ones with arms: ...eyes, attitudes, & tentacles: ... AND the Smoking Gun variety: ...along with other strangeness.

Too. Much. Fungoid. Goodness. *forces himself to breathe slowly* Sorry, tauster. Being slow on the uptake, I just noticed your avatar & realized the traumatic effect all these Mushroom were having on your psyche. Of course, there will be the Witches' Mushroom dwellings in the Isle & Shanty town to be posted, not to mention the Steam Punk Mushroom Tower of Temerity O'Leery...all 30" of it. SO there will be things to keep you interested...& gasping for breath.
