This is crazy. I been thinking on doing these out of plexiglas that I had leftover from...my arcadejoystick!!! I'm not making this up:-) Today I thought about how I was gonna do the tutorial, and that I would probably have to warn people and advise to use safetygoggles for when you break the pieces of. I usually cut with a utility knife and then break the pieces of. I then came up with the idea that I would use thinner plastic instead, from toy packages, actually my gluesticks come with clear plastic, too. Just to be on the safe side and make the craft easier. Oh, and just for record, I don't recall watching DMScotty's videos on this subject, but then again, I could have forgotten, and vaguely remembered something, but then thought it was my own idea. Need I say, that your work is well done and a super tip:-)
I know I'll be using my plexiglas soon. I need an Ice Bridge. Have you tried heating it and bending it? I had to wrap mine aroud two edges for my joystick. Lots of burns compared to normal hotgluetorture;-)

johnp, get yourself a plexiglass scoring tool. I measure it out and place a metal straight edge on the plexi. I used that tool to score it once really hard, then I score it 4-5 more times. After that just place it on the edge of the table with your score just barely over the edge. Hold it very tightly with one hand, with the other just push down hard and snap it clean on your score line. I used to try cutting it with a blade and it doesn't work well. As for heating it to bend, just use a good heat gun and it bends easy. Nice idea on the ice bridge, I might have to try that one out. Also, another tip since you mentioned doing arcade sticks. I don't ever drill my plexi anymore. I clamp it to my control panel and then flush trim route it for perfect holes every time with no cracking.

It looks good, meph. Exactly how I imagined it. Please continue to do stuff I think about, so I can relax in the mean time:-) Thank you for the tip with the scoring tool. You're right, it didn't work that well with a utility knife.
I'll have to play with my heatgun tomorrow, and shape some plexiglas. Maybe we will come up with the same:-)

I made another cube yesterday for the other DM at my table. I spent my morning painting about 60 more 2" and 3" modular wall sections because I felt I was short and then last night was game night, so not much crafting. Will have a big update with pics in my Weekly game thread. School is closed today and the kids are home so I will get some good crafting in today. =) Unfortunately vacation is over tomorrow and i'm back to work wednesday....now I have to wait a whole 4 months for my next 2 weeks.

What? No crafting for 4 months? I hope I misunderstood, cause that would suck bigtime:-( I gonna find that other thread of yours.

No damn. I didn't really get much done yesterday and probably won't today either. I have 3 dart machines to get cleaned and repaired for sale. Had all vacation to do it and today is my last day. Spent all my down time on D&D

Hahaha, I know exactly how you feel:-) I'm hopelessly behind on editing videos, because I've been spending to much time on the forum and watching videos on Youtube, craftrelated of course.
A dartmachine...sounds like a DM's dream:-)

Just noticed that this have happened once before with the torches:-) I didn't pay attention to your name at the time so when I saw the cubes and posted, I did not think of it. I'll reserve the right to mention it the third time you craft something I'm crafting simultaneously or been thinking about the same day, and from thereon out I shall hold my tongue, before I make a fool of myself;-)

Meph, great looking cubes! I just found some thin plexi and built some of my own.... sadly, they didn't turn out as good as yours I might give it another try. Also, it is good to know you do arcade restoration. I may have a few questions for you down the road...

I made a couple up the other day, as well. I had been using cut Plexi-glass for bases, but I've moved away from them, in favor of textured bases. I peeled off around 12 figures, from 2"-square Plexi-glass bases, and I threw the bases out... Until, that is, until I had a use for them -- I fished them out of the trash, and plugged in my Hot Glue Gun.
I experimented with circular swirls with the Hot Glue. At first, I pretty much covered the entire surface of the faces. I discovered, however, that the hardened Hot Glue would not show the figure inside, so then I tried looser swirls, with clear patches of Plexi-glass, and those faces showed the figure within. I will be gaming with 1st-level PC's again, within a few weeks, so I will need some 1st level monsters -- which is why I fished out the Plexi-glass pieces... Cheers!
