That's some amazing terrain! I can see you've put a lot of time and effort into this and it looks so great! Can't wait to see some photos of the finished piece!
As an aside, I actually made the castle in MineCraft one time. Wasn't completely accurate, but looked really cool! Course I did it in the creative mode as to do it in normal game mode would eat up a lot of terrain!

I would love to see a Minecraft version of the castle. Never thought to check to see if one exists. I bet yours was cool, skunkape!

I have been toying with the idea of setting up a Realms server, if I do, I'll be sure to make another one so that people I invite to the server can explore it! If you Google for Minecraft Raveloft images there should be some out there. Not mine of course but some that others have done!

Might be fun to work one off of Ravenloft and its surrounding area, probably more based off of the Expedition version, but would be interesting there.

This build is insane. The work shows incredible expertise, and the patience of a saint.
Kudos!

Apologies, friends. I haven't posted anything in a while, but the build is still rolling. I'm in between covering the various roofs of the castle and preparing to lay paint on the build. I picked up a compressor and airbrush set last week from Harbor Freight and played around "painting" cardboard with water to get used to the action. For purposes of terrain painting, I expect that the "cheap" airbrush will do at least an adequate job. Without having done any terrain painting in the past, but having watched several YouTube videos, I am convinced that the air brush is the best way to do the majority of the tile paint work.
Currently I am working on making stonework stencils for the tiles. Cereal box cardboard takes a little bit to cut when trying to make the stencils, but the effort will be worth it. It may be better to cut the stencils from ridged plastic sheets, but only experience will reveal the truth of that matter. Cereal box cardboard is inexpensive and abundant, semi-rigid plastic sheeting, not so much. Photos to come soon.
Furnishing and doors for the castle have taken a back seat for the moment. Regretfully I can only work on one thing at a time. Patience is key to success!

Disposable plastic plates work great for stencils.

Disposable plastic plates work great for stencils. This is why I love this board! I hadn't considered plastic plates as a solution. I'll have to try some tonight. Thank you, Bluecloud2k2!

NP, I discovered this by accident when I was harvesting said plates for armor-plates for an attempt at scratch-building a 40k Rhino

I hate to say this, but you should maybe try painting a small portion of this epic project before you complete construction. It would be a real shame if you got all of this work done and found out that painting will ruin it. I'm not saying it will. I just know that painting on top of hot glue can be tricky. Maybe make a couple simple stair pieces or a quick out building to test the waters. I only say this out of love for the project, and experience. There's a 2.5D building tile downstairs that mocks me with it's curly-ness. I've just started preliminary paint work - using an airbrush to apply my primer first. I concur with your assessment of paint's interaction with hot glue. I am thinking of mixing in some watered down PVA glue to my primer to see how the hot glue will handle that. I have a rooftop piece I coated with watered down PVA and am anxious to see how the hot glue holds the black primer. It has taken a long time to get to this point - Fallout 4 has eaten a lot of my free time. I'll be posting pictures of the castle as it is primed for painting. I think I'm going to "cheat" on the castle's battlements for the time being. I plan to purchase Campaign Cartographer and print a floor plan outlining the battlements to the scale of the castle. That way I'll be able to drop the castle down inside the grounds boarded by the battlements - I don't expect much to take place in the battlements anyway. I'm really wanting to get the castle completed before Wizards releases the new world book Curse of Strahd. Less than two months away, isn't it?

I typically prime Hot Glue with Gesso. I have not had issues with it thus far, and I have painted quite a bit of Hot Glue. I also paint Wood Glue, and PVA Glue over it, then swirl it in a mixture of three colored sands, for the bases. I've used it for quite a long time, to base my mini's on vinyl floor tile pieces cut to size -- the tiles make a fantastic basing material, as I can cut them to any custom size smaller than 12"-Square. I am interested to hear what issues you may encounter. Best of luck with the Strahd project -- I've been following it from the beginning. It is incredibly ambitious, and impressively massive. Cheers!

I like the looks of it, it has a few more cards than a standard playing pack. Making a deck should be a nice, short weekend project... Too much to do!

Well that got an exalt out of me😎
Awesome build, takes some real dedication, your players should thank their lucky stars. I have to admit though, if I was one of your players, I would definatly be trying to pick a fight on those stairs, the visuals would just be to awesome for me to resist. = Awesomesauce!!!

I have a special plan for the main set of spiral stairs. I gotta dust off my electrical engineering notebook though, cause it involves blinking lights...
