I went to Hobby Lobby to pick up some spray paint and the only thing I could find in black was chalkboard spraypaint. I made some simple looking tiles with it. It's kind of neat, I can use the tiles immediately if I want to just by drawing my own details in.
The thing is, they are ashy now and I really want to use the chalkboard paint as the black base color. Is painting over the chalkboard paint with other paints going to mess up the only tiles I have at the moment?
I do plan to make another batch of tiles, but if I can just use chalkboard paint, it might allow me to have more tiles immediately available as I build up my paint collection bit by bit.
Oh yeah, and is there a simple method to making a chalkboard eraser? Lol.

I would not expect a chalkboard paint to be a good primer. I could be wrong, but definitely test it before you invest a significant amount of effort.

Love the idea of drawing tiles. its a nice way to solve the door and window problem. and even though it loses that 3D feel, its a real space saver.
that said, reading on chalkboard paint, i dont think it was made to be painted over by anything else. so i guess the answer would be... yes, it probably wouldn't be painting rihgt and probably screw your tiles. you'd ahve to test this first before you actually go on with this.
to the other question, it would have to be a soft eraser, so i'd say, maybe a soft cloth with a handle would do the trick. im really not sure about this at all, just tryint an answer.
