The old MageKnight range had a Werebear, but it wasn't armoured though. It's a nice looking mini.

$32.00!!!! I can see why you don't want to buy it despite it being so nice.

These are all great, I haven't seen most of them before. Unfortunately they run about the same price as our other furry friend in my last post. I'll keep looking for a more reasonable alternative but it looks like I might have to pony up some cash lol.

I think the conversion would look good. Size may be a factor for you though. dailyencounter.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/2012-07-31-18.35.20.jpgHere is how the gnoll sizes up to other minis. It is a personal choice as to if that is big enough. As a side note: I think that is the gnoll I would use. The shield makes me think of a giant bear claw. The weapon can be modded out as long as you are already modding the head.

Once I receive it I'll try and post some WIP pictures in my painting thread dmscraft.proboards.com/thread/899/dancing-hippos-painting-thread . It should be here within a week (I'm less than 3 hours from Reaper!).

That is actually pretty cool in a cartoonish sort of way. Who makes that mini?

Alas, the head was too large for the gnoll body. I'm going forward with the conversion anyway as I think it will be the best I can get for under $30. I'll have WIP pictures up in my painting blog by this weekend hopefully.

If the body is not grossly undersized, you could cut the torso off then in half. Use green stuff to beef up the gaps before reassembling. You can add some height and width in this manner.

That is a great Idea. I'm not a very good sculptor though. I do plan to start working with green stuff in the near future though and will definitely keep this technique in mind.

I don't know if you've considered this guy: www.miniaturemarket.com/hcca-044.htmlHe would need armor for what you are looking to do and I'm not really sure about his size but you can't beat the price.

Yeah there are a lot of really good unarmored minis and that is a great price. I would have to sculpt the armor though and I'm not very good at it yet.

If you don't mind a bit of work, and since you're already changing the head, you might take a look at either some of the wargods of aegyptus options, or even the wolfman thing Bombshell has which could probably be modified slightly and with the headswap work well enough as a werebear.
