Inspired by DMScotty's most recent videos, I am going to try to create a set of 2.5d Next walls and floors to use for manors, mansions, universities, and things of that nature. You really could use it for single home dwellings as well, but I was looking for an answer to those tricky multi-room, multi-floored buildings.

exact same method I'm doing. I think this way should save us a lot of popsicle sticks!

With the amount of threads going on the forum it can be easy to miss people's work, rane. Do you have any pics posted of what you have done? I would love to see it for inspiration and ideas going forward.

no pics yet but it's pretty much identical to what you're doing
my main difference is that I decided to use cardstock for the base (cereal box) as the popsicle sticks are thick enough that I didn't have to bulk the tile up with a single or double layered cardboard.

I'm not sure I understand how you do the wood template here? Simply handcraft it in foamcore?

I'm not sure I understand how you do the wood template here? Simply handcraft it in foamcore? O think is "goma EVA" I don´t know in English. Is very usefull and easy to work with it. And cheap of course. He should have make the lines with a blade or the tip of a toothpick. When he Drybrush them are going to look awesome!

It is a thin layer of foam (got a 12-pack for less than 4 bucks, and what you see is 2 halves of 1 sheet) glued to a double layer of cardboard (one layer originally, but there was too much warping), lebaron. I used a couple of different clay shaping tools (generic, and can be found in cheap packs at any craft store) to make the wooden floorboard designs. The reason for the choice in tools is that I didn't want to use anything that was too sharp or would cut too deeply into the foam, but would maintain the impression. I plan the walls will be a very similar design, but haven't gotten that far yet. Now that I think about it, you could definitely use this sort of thing as a paint stamp template, but that isn't what I did here. I wanted the texture

I love the texture too. I did my rock floor with foamcore but I should put a layer of cardboard underneath it so it does not warp as much.

I used cheap posicle sticks for mine. Glued onto cardstock. No warping

Still unpainted It's roughly the size of a 4x3 using The DMG's measurements - should be big enough to fill most building needs

had a bunch of things to paint today, finally got around to the floor Base coated it with an Espresso wash then re hit a few spots to darken and give a more natural texture to the wood. Dry brushed a bit of black, then Cinnamon Brown, then Golden Brown (which gave a nice aged/worn look), then finally lightly dusted a dry brush of Tan to make the texture of the wood pop. It's darker than the pictre made it, my iPhone auto adjusted and brightened the shot.

Your floor is stunning, rane. I think I may use your idea for a large tavern/inn I have in mind. That will be a bit farther down the road, though.

modular housing huh...
defintely something im interested in, cause i like making houses for my players to go rogue in.
or get in there to steal a little girl back ! one or the other !
good idea on the flooring without wall. it makes it more modular as is. i may make a few mini walls though just to had separation between tiles.
